Laptop turns off in the middle of games - don't think it's overheating??

So I've had my Viper II laptop for about 2.5 years now, and for about the last 6/7 months it has been turning itself off whenever it's being asked to do a little too much. It wasn't such a problem when this started happening as I had lost interest in gaming, but now I am back into playing WoW and it's really beginning to annoy me. When I first received the laptop it was fine playing all sorts of games.

I e-mailed pcspecialist a few weeks back about the problem and I followed their advice on taking the fan out and giving it all a good clean etc, but the problem still persists.

I downloaded one of those temperature monitoring programs, and it seems to go no higher than ~65/70C when I've been playing something like WoW for around 20 minutes, which is when it switches off.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like something might be wrong with the power delivery although I'm not that knowledgeable about laptops. You could wait for someone else to give you advice on the forum but I would recommend that in the mean time you call PCS when you can. They will sort the problem out. :)

The BSOD Doctor
HWMonitor from http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor/versions-history.html is probably the best free temperature monitor because it shows you min and max values as well as instantaneous.

Take a look in the event log to see whether there is anything reported in the Critical or Error sections in there? You'll see kernel-power errors but they are most likely there because the power went off rather than the reason it went off. Look for something else around the same time.
