Light gaming and photo editing

Hi Guys,

I was hoping for a bit more help regarding a personal build. Just recently set up a business and want to start on the right foot. Need a PC that can handle some heavy photo editing, social media work and general Microsoft office. I will occasionally use it for gaming but more likely to play things like Age of empires and builder games. Would like to pair this with a new monitor (27-34
inch). I would prefer the monitor to focus on the photo editing side rather than the gaming aspect. I have a total budget of £1500 but could stretch this by £100-200 if needed.

I was told to get the InfernoL2 by @SpyderTracks which is a great build on a previous thread. Just wanted to see if I can get a custom build for a bit cheaper. Any advice would be appreciated.

This is probably the build I will go with. Like you, I plan to start a photography business and use for general use mainly and from what I've read, it should perform more than adequately. Let's just say it should easily outperform an £1800 Macbook Pro 2020 hardware wise.

You can obviously pick a case of your choice and upgrade the CPU/Mobo to suit your budget (3700X/3800X/3900X with X570 board). I think a better graphics card would be overkill based on your needs. Storage is entirely subjective. I already have some drives at home so 500gb is fine for me. You might want to include some bigger capacity traditional hard drives too.

Thanks for the reply. Seems like a solid build. I would probably just add a 2TB HDD as I have no external hard drive. Any upgrades you think would be worth it as I have about £200 that I can spend on this PC?

Also any advice of a monitor to pair this with? 27 inch would work fine as I will most probably have a second monitor in the future (would this affect the build and what I need for it to work?). Thanks again for the advice.

Looking to get the Dell U2719D as my monitor of choice. Any other options out there that focus on colour accuracy and slight gaming? Would need to be around £350-400. Saw the AOC cq32g1 as a bigger screen option as well.

Also found out today that the Inferno-L2 is not in stock due to the case being sold out. Looks like I'm going to have to get a custom build.

Decided to make a few tweaks. Upgraded the graphics to match a few games I want to play occasionally. Also upgrade the SSD and HDD. The 2TB will be used for photos, files, projects etc. The SSD will be used for games mainly and other programs. Let me know what you guys think.

Looks good, ticks all the boxes.

But the GPU isn’t going to be powerful enough to drive it, you’d need a 2060 super as a bare minimum.

EDIT, just read the kind of gaming you’re doing, should be fine, the extra resolution will be helpful for the work side of things.
