Looking for 1st custom-built PC

Title says it all really.

Looking for a PC that will run the latest expansion to Final Fantasy 14 (Shadowbringers) that's coming out soon, on high settings. My current PC (All-in-1 Lenovo) is about 6 years old and didn't have the graphics power to decently run the game's last expansion 2 years ago, so you can only imagine how it runs now.

Can possibly play with the budget a bit, would also like good storage, but if I can get a basic idea, I can play around with it. The components under the hood are confusing as hell to me.

Not sure about budget, just for a ballpark say £1-2k, but keep it as low as possible.

Was looking at 27/28" monitors on the site as 27 inch is the size I have now. Might go for 1 of the 28" 4ks.

I would wait for a few days for a quote as AMD are just (later on today I think) about to announce their new Zen 2 chips which we're expecting will blow intel out of the water at a cheaper cost.

Intel systems are a really bad idea atm at any budget level really, they're expensive because stocks are low, and performance has been mitigated by about 20% due to security issues and having to disable hyperthreading if you don't want your system hacked.

AMD is defnitely the way to go.

4k is extremely demanding and you really need a 2080ti which is a £1200 card alone. Plus you'll only get a 60hz panel unless your budet for the monitor is over £1500 on it's own. Personally I would say consider 1440p for real high quality gaming experience. I have both a 4k 60Hz and a 1440p 144hz (both with gsync) and I mainly game on the 1440p screen, it's just a better experience for most modern titles. On a build like this definitely look for GSync or Freesync on the monitor, it's worth the extra cost.

Just in case you're nerdy like me and wanna watch the keynote, the link is here https://www.amd.com/en/events/computex

Okie doke, like I said the technical details are a mystery to me so I didn't think about it on the monitor and how much the graphics card would cost to run it, just looked at screen size. If it runs high quality at 1920x1080, I'm happy.

There's a benchmark program for the game I can link to if you want to run it on a PC and see how it compares. It gives you a score based on loading times and such. Let's just say it needs a score of several thousand to rate well, and I'm hanging around 1k, depending on if it's high desktop or high laptop settings.

This thread might be useful too, some of these guys might actually know what they're talking about, computer-wise.

I ran it on my PC with a 3770k and RTX 2060 at 1440p. With the settings more or less maxed, FPS was generally about 80-90. There was one drop early on, but that seemed to happen regardless of lowering the settings. The benchmark was a pain in the neck if you tried closing it, and left to run for the full duration takes a long while, so I only ran it a few times.

So maybe something like the below, with a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor as suggested:

Maybe the Dell S2716DG, or the new Gigabyte AORUS AD27QD
