Looking for assistance choosing a new laptop.

Hi there

I'm looking to buy a new laptop. I know the broad basics of what I'm after, but as a bit of a noob with limited time to delve through the insane number of options out there, I'm looking for a steer on specifications.

First things first: I'm not looking for a gaming laptop. I already have a decent desktop from PC Specialist and I have no need for a second high-end machine. I'm unlikely to run games more advanced than Football Manager on this laptop, and that has almost no graphics requirements.

What I am after is a slick, quick Win10 laptop that will last me a good number of years, and will run basic home/office uses (word processing, internet browsing, streaming videos) at a good, high speed without getting bloated and starting to chug within a year or two like I've found a lot of mid-range laptops often do. I'm assuming that means I'm probably after a decent wedge of RAM (8GB or 16GB?) and a good quality SSD (preferably at least 512GB).

Webcam and built-in WiFi are a must as I'm also likely to use it for Zoom calls and similar. I'd like a sharp picture but I'm not overly bothered about 4K or anything like that, nor am I especially concerned about screen size - I don't want anything tiny, but I don't want anything enormous either. I would definitely like to be able to use the laptop for a reasonable period off-charge, at least 3-5 hours, ideally more.

I would also, ideally, like the laptop to be a 2-in-1 tablet hybrid, but I am conscious that (a) this would (correct me if I'm wrong) mean buying a ready-made one rather than building one on PC Specialist, and (b) that might dramatically increase the price range. All the same I'd be grateful for any guidance and, if it's allowed on here, perhaps a recommendation for any recommended pre-built non-PC-Specialist laptops.

The most important detail: I definitely don't want to spend four figures. My ideal price range would be £6-700, but as above I'm looking for guidance so if that means you tell me the above specs can't be achieved at that price range, then so be it!

Thanks in advance. Anything that needs clarifying, let me know.
