Hi all,
I am a professional videographer lucky enough to have never needed my own desktop, since I have always worked from an office machine. Given everything that is going on, I am looking for help and advice on purchasing a set up to use at home. I will be starting from scratch, so will need a monitor as well as a desktop.
I will primarily be using Premiere with light After effects usage. I currently use a 'Late 2013 Mac Pro' at work and it fulfills all my needs, however I have always wanted a PC so that is why I am here!
99% of the projects I work on are short form and 1920x1080, however something that can handle 4k would be grand. I'm also interested in being able to do some gaming (City Skylines, CIV, Rocket League) but it is definitely secondary - I much prefer a smooth casual experience to being concerned with frame rates and being competitive.
My budget is anywhere from 1,700 - 2,100 for everything.
Other notes that might help:
- I don't require a 4K monitor.
- When working with 4K footage I am comfortable using proxies and I never run other programs while rendering.
- I don't require masses of internal storage because I always use external SSD's etc.
- I am useless at retaining the what most PC Jargon means, so feel free to talk to me like I am a 5 year old.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Reading other people's posts I am impressed with your moderators attentiveness!
Cheers
James
