Hi there

I am looking for a new to run Zwift on as my current laptop has packed up. Was looking ateither the AMD 3 3300 or AMD 5 3600 along with either the AMD 580/590 and FTC 1660 graphics cards but really am not sure what to do. I have just bought a budget 1440p gaming monitor but need min 1080p or 1440p if possible. Desperate for advice as I’ve been off zwift all week trying to sort this out. Thanks in advanced Graham

What is the model of the monitor you have bought? Link the product page you got it off if you're unsure.

What is your budget for the system?

Your old system was a laptop but you're open to the new system being a desktop, yes? :)

Hi thanks for the reply. It’s only an electriq 27 qhd 1440p 95hz. Budget was around £7-800 but from what I’ve read zwift is more gpu rather than cpu. My laptop was an i5 4210U 1.7ghz and that ran zwift without shadows on 1089p with a built in intel 4400 hd graphics. It was a a bit hesitant occasionally but not very often. I spend 6-7 days a week on zwift.

That’s kind off what I’ve been looking at. Was looking at the AMD 580 card but the FTC 1660 seemed to perform slightly better. How does the AMD 3 3200 perform compared to the 5 3600 with zwift. Cheers Graham

You don't want to buy anything less than a 6-core R5 CPU, such as R5 3600, or R5 2600x. The other options are not cheaper enough to make them worth buying, and would be less futureproof.

Also, PC Specialist only sell the R5 2600x with slower RAM than the above, which makes it a less enticing purchase from my POV.

The GTX 1660 Super would significantly outperform the RX 580, especially in Zwift which favours Nvidia GPUs a bit. I don't think you want to go lower than the 1660 Super for 1440p, especially with a 95hz monitor.
