Hi All,
I've had my PC Specialist desktop for nearly four years and it has served me very well (Bought as a result of advice from this forum). However, I like to play VR games and games on very hi specs and it is starting to struggle with some of the newer titles unless I turn the settings down significantly. I am hoping to see whether it is feasible to just upgrade the CPU and GPU and keep the existing infrastructure going to save some cash. My specs are below. I have only upgraded by adding 16 Gb of 3000mhz Corsair Vengeance to the build. It is otherwise as stated.
I was looking at the addition of a i9 9900KF and a RTX 2080 Ti to this setup. I believe I will need to update the motherboard BIOS for this to work?
Also, is my current CPU cooler going to be effective on this new CPU? As I have heard it can run rather hot.
Are there any significant bottle necks I am not seeing in this upgrade?
Is this a cost effective way to get back to high end setting and frame rates or am I better off getting a whole new rig? My preference is to keep this PC going as it seems fars cheaper just to upgrade the GPU and CPU as opposed to buying a whole new high end gaming PC.
Sorry for the long post and TIA for any help.
