Morning all,

To cut a long story short I get a discount at HP through work so thought I'd save a few quid and order a system through them, it will probably come as no surprise that this was returned within the first two weeks so now I'm doing what I should have done from the start and ordering with PCS.

Budget: Around £2500

Use: Pure gaming with the occasional web browsing and office documents. Games will be MS Flight Sim, Total War series and Triple A games such as Cyberpunk, The Outer Worlds e.t.c

Monitor: 32" Samsung G7 1440p 240Hz

Case
CORSAIR iCUE 5000X RGB MID TOWER GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D Eight Core CPU (3.4GHz-4.5GHz/100MB CACHE/AM4) - Gone with the 3D for the gaming advantages
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (DDR4, USB 3.2, 6Gb/s) - ARGB Ready! - Does this suffice or should it be one of the x570 boards?
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3600MHz (2 x 16GB) - 32GB due to Flight Sim
Graphics Card
10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 - HDMI, DP, LHR - I've read the threads on how the 3080 is overkill at 1440p but I thought it would help with Flight Sim and won't be restricted by the monitor I have, I also have the budget for it
Graphics Card Support Bracket
PCS ARGB GRAPHICS CARD SUPPORT BRACKET

Power Cable
1 x 1.5 Metre UK Power Cable (Kettle Lead)
Processor Cooling
Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler - Don't know if this is overkill for this system but seems to be one that is recommended by many on here

With FS2020 the 5800X3D is going to get a big advantage so I would probably stick with that personally. Good value in these systems now, which is good to see.

I wouldn't really make too many changes but I would definitely opt for the better motherboard. I've tweaked the storage to offset the costs as there's no real benefit having the 970 in play over the Intel. The Firecuda 530 would be a proper upgrade if you wanted to spend the extra dough.

Thanks for the comments, I'll go with the changes you suggested Scott. Just had two questions before I pull the trigger:

1. Do I need to add an extra fan for the rear of the case, is it even needed? (I'm under the impression it just comes with the 3 at the front)

2. Does anyone know what the special offers are for the 5800X3D and the Intel SSD? Is it simply that they're at a discounted price at the minute?

No, the recommended cooler has 3 fans on it as well so you will be more than covered. A slight positive pressure is ideal when not under load.

Special offers typically refer to price when mentioned in the dropdown. Any further offers, such as free games or etc, are typically mentioned in the banners.

With this now dispatched (brilliant turnaround by the PCS team) I was wondering if people could give me application/program recommendations (preferably free) for checking system vitals or boosting the system for gaming sessions? I think I used "Game Booster" (original name I know) in the past but I've been out the PC gaming sphere for a few years.
