More good news from AMD

I've been really impressed with AMD in more ways than just their competitive uptake on the CPU market.

As you say the way they address the bases issues is really really good and completely the opposite of Intel. They're supportive, they admit fault and they work quickly to rectify.

This is visible not only in the 'nix support, but in graphics drivers, and security mitigations (of which they've thankfully only had a couple).

They really do deserve every good thing they've got coming to them, hats off to Lisa Su for really turning around a flailing company in quite a short space of time.

Keep an eye out on their Epyc line, they're about to wipe the floor with Intel in the Server space.

Agree, they have been really impressive in many areas. I am very pleased with my i9 desk top so will not need a new PC and cannot justify getting one but AMD would certainly be my first choice CPU now.

I'm currently in the market for a new desktop rig, and I'm currently eye-balling the Ryzen 9 3900x. 12 cores (24 threads), 105 watt TDP, 32GB of RAM for just under £900! I have my own GPU and don't need Windows installed as I use Linux. I'm completely blown away by how reasonably priced such a rig is. Will probably make the purchase around Christmas/early January 2020.

How about the 3950x?

They don't seem to be available from PCSpecialists at this time. There's no option in the CPU dropdown for a 3950x. Also, from what I understand, there's a significant price jump between the 3900x and 3950x?
