Mouse Randomly Deselecting Active Window

Hi guys,

I recently had an issue where the mouse (or keyboard) started just deselecting the active window on my desktop. For example, as I'm writing this on Chrome, it would be deselect this window and I would hear a bunch of beeps instead of the letters I'm typing.

Another example is that if I'm playing Starcraft 2 then it would be deselected and a bunch of error beeps would happen when I am using my keyboard hotkeys.

I've tried a lot of the solutions listed here -http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-CA/itprovistadesktopui/thread/9075972d-21e0-4040-9c5d-48d3c2deda7c but to no avail.

To clarify, windows and everything works perfectly when the window gets deselected. I've swapped mice as well and its done the same thing so I don't think its a mouse issue.

Much help appreciated,

Puyan

Run a Malware Scanner/Virus Scanner, It could be something running in the background which is causing something else to become selected, like I said it could be the cause, also has it started recently, after you installed a certain program or game. Double check whats running in the background via taskbar or cntrl+alt+delete.

If possible when this happens try and figure out what is actually being focused on, what other applications are open?

The bunch of beeps is just the focused application not knowing what the keys mean (I normally get this when pressing game hotkeys when I've forgotten to re-focus on my game window after clicking on something else)

I think I found the problem. I recently bought and installed this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002SZEOLG to extend my wifi and the program had been focusing every time it needed to reconnect or something. I've uninstalled it and it seems fine for now. I'm not really sure about using it now since its caused me so much bother... :(

I have one of them. No need for their software, will work fine with just the driver installed by windows updates and then the default windows wifi software.

Did it work?

I just got a new computer and this problem started popping up as well. I also have a TP link wireless adapter. Was this really the source of the problem?? Thanks
