Multi purpose but mainly gaming.

Hi all
i usually build my own pc's but after all these years i have gotten lost with whats good with what. I started life with the good old ZX81 if anyone remembers them heheh
I have a budget of £2500 and an absolute max of £3000
The pc will be used for mainly gaming but i tend to like programming modding and graphics creation plus some other pc taxing stuff.
i also like to build pc's that will last me as long as possible :)
This build will have 2 monitors, a BenQ gw2270 and a BenQ XL2430, with the possibility of adding 1 or 2 more monitors to it at a later date.
Before i found this site i was going to put together a complete intel system but after reading lots in the forum it seems i am heading back to AMD again
I chose the case as itt has a dvd/cd bay init as i have a large collection of dvds and yes i still use cd's and dvd's for hard backups :)
Apart from the general build i have questions about the cooling in the casee and cpu if its correct ?
Also the wireless card i have added , does the motherboard come with wifi on it ?
This pc will be on for 8-10hrs a day and sometimes longer.
i would love to hear your thoughts and changes to this build, thnaks in advance.

Are you aware that PCS systems come fully built? So you have to order the whole system.

What makes you think that case comes with a 5.25" bay? I can't see anything in the specs that says so...although I'd probably just stick with an external one.

With one or two exceptions, the build doesn't look terrible at all:
  1. The PSU is woefully underpowered - I'd spec a RM850 at least
  2. If you need wifi, then I'd go for the much better Intel one (when it's available/shown on the config)
  3. The case doesn't have a 5.25" bay for the CD/DVD/BR drive, so have added an external one

I wouldn't recommend that case mate it's not good for airflow. Also that CPU cooler is nowhere near enough to keep the 5900x under wraps

The CPU coolers that were recommended also come with pre applied thermal paste so the extra paste isn't needed

Thanks for tthe info :)
Do you have any suggestions for a case with a 5.25 bay in it ? i know i can get a plugin dvd drive but i have dvd, drives sitting here and also didn't want more stuff on the desk.

It's a dead format mate most cases just don't support it any more. I'll have a look but no I just use an external for when I need to then put it away when I'm done with it

The Fractal Define 7 supports one
Cooler Master C600 supports one

As mentioned above the Fractal Define 7 can support a 5.25 drive. I have this case and I can highly endorse it. It is worth mentioning to PCS in the order that you want to install your own DVD drive though, as otherwise they will assemble the PC with that slot removed.
While we're on the spec I adjusted your cooling, the Coolermaster 120 would be insufficient to keep the 5900x cool. Best case here would probably be the H115i Cappellix but it's out of stock at the moment. Put the slightly larger H150i in for now but can definitely swap the H115i in if it comes back in stock in time. Upping the PSU to 1000W is also definitely an option as it gives a bit more headroom for potential future upgrades.

I quite like this :) Thanks
but now with the suggestion of the full tower from TonyCarter (The £340 BE QUIET! DARK BASE PRO 900 REV. 2 supports 2!) Which i agrees is alot of money for lol and the FRACTAL DEFINE 7 BLACK QUIET MID-TOWER CASE , does anyone have any idea how Quiet these are?
Also would a Midi tower be better to get rid of the heat faster as the air flow would be more compact?
This case will not be on the besk but under it just fyi and it has lots of air flow down there to get rid of the heat under the desk.

The Fractal is really quiet, it's a superb case

Note that when they day about Temps, that's with regard to air coolers, we would always configure an AIO, skip to 25 minutes in in the summary where he states that a CLC (closed loop cooler / AIO) would correct the Thermal issues.

hmm , i looked up the BE QUIET! DARK BASE PRO 900 REV. 2 Case review by Gamers Nexus and they weree both about air cooled cpu which they say cpu cooling is not great for either cases but good for gpu, So how does cpu liquid cooling behave in these cases ? is it an issue or can the radiators be positioned to lend good air flow over the radiator ?

The reason i am asking so much about this point is that my last home build in a large tower ended up having to remove the top cover and part of the side panel plus turning around an internal fan to suck air in to get enough air flow over the radiator to cool an AMD FX 9370 Black edition, admittedly i am and have always been an amateur and could have setup something up wrong lol

Thanks alot so far with the responces, they are making a big difference to what i would have bought

for those looking for the be quiet review

I said the time stamp above where they mention about AIO performance.

The same is with the be quiet.

Any case is benchmarked for airflow, but most modern builds will have an AIO especially with Ryzen.

No quiet case can have top tier cooling, the whole point of quietening the noise is that you have to restrict airflow and create a barrier to sound escaping. He states in both "cooling is fine" but it's not as good as a case that is designed for airflow.

But both these cases are amongst the best "silent" cases in both build quality and cooling.

I am aware them come built but what do you mean by Whole system ? i was just after the main box as i have everything else to plug into it.
You have to buy a system that is capable of running Windows so that PCS can test it before shipping. You can buy the smallest and cheapest RAM, the smallest and cheapest HDD, opt for no graphic card if the CPU has an iGPU (otherwise buy the cheapest graphics card available) and then swap your own parts in when it arrives. But PCS have to be able to test it - hence you have to buy a whole (complete) system.
