This is my first time having a PC and my first time trying to figure out what would be best for the PC I want.. I will be using it for streaming and playing FPS shooter games mainly. Can someone let me know if this SPEC configuration is decent? Or if there is anything I should change or add? I am already in the pre-production stage so not sure how much time I will have to add or change anything.. Many thanks!!

Thank you for your time, and if I wanted to go for the AMD RYZEN 9 would that be overkill? I didn't consider 2 SSD drives before - is this something that is important? And would this build be good for getting MAX FPS in my FPS shooter games as well as being able to stream in good quality to Twitch??

Well, there are always more FPS that can be eked out. But yes, absolutely it would. And for streaming it'll be awesome: make sure you use the Nvenc setting when you're streaming.

The Ryzen 9 would be even better, certainly in the long term. It probably won't make a large difference to FPS right now. But I wouldn't suggest it was necessary by any means. The 5800X outperforms the Intel chip you had.

As for the SSD, you have one super fast drive for the operating system, then a second drive you can use for storing games. If you have the budget, it wouldn't be a terrible idea to go for a PCIe 4.0 drive like the Firecuda for the sake of Direct Storage when it arrives.

But at that point you're into complete luxury build territory! Not by any means a bad idea, but it's gone beyond value for money and into the realm of diminishing returns.

Okay this is fantastic I am going to change my build today!!
I do have an external SSD (I think it is some sort of hard drive lol) I think that I use for my playstation atm. Would that be something I could use instead of adding the 2nd on on my build?

Hi I was thinking of switching out my graphics cards on my PC build from the 3070ti to the 3080 but I wanted to make sure it was worthwhile before doing so.
This is the monitor I will be using

Many thanks

Unless you’re a pro competition gamer, I’d reconsider that choice of monitor. There’s only a very small percentage of people who can actually detect anything over 120Hz… and even they lose that over time.

You could spend around £500 to get a good quality 144Hz 1440p ultrawide monitor and still go for the 3070Ti.

That's a 1080p monitor which is really poor by todays standards, there are only 2 GPU's that support it, it's really only any good for competition gaming which means reducing resolution to 720 and lowering settings to the lowest so games look awful but play fast.

Most people can't see any difference over 120Hz, so personally I would strongly recommend avoiding that unless you're playing at competition level.

1440p is the current sweetspot for mainstream gaming, and it's leaps and bounds better than 1080p. 144Hz is also the mainstream for a gaming monitor.

For the cost of that monitor I would personally go with the new samsung g7 4k monitor could not justify spending that much money on a 1080p monitor with a refresh rate that the average user wouldent even notice I went from 1080p to 1440p and the diffrence is incredible looking to go from 1440p to 4k next would never take a step back down to 1080p
