My first gaming laptop - good spec or not?

Would really love a good solid gaming laptop - is this a good spec for say GTA and latest games?

You'd be better off with the Octane III or the Defiance III (defiance III may well be cheaper than what you've specced too) as they have much more powerful GPUs.

What's your budget? Someone might be able to suggest a better alternative.

Thanks for the quick reply. Budget max £2000. This spec is £1,721. I had a look at the Octane III and its cheaper with these same specs, which i don't understand!?

Yeah it is a bit strange, but the Octane III is better as I've used both plus you save money.

I hadn't noticed, but the 17" Octane III still has the option for the desktop-class GTX 980 listed, which is almost £200 cheaper than the laptop GTX 1060. I guess if you decide on a chassis size, what GPU to go for (GTX 1070 is easily within your budget, but it's expensive and the 1060 or desktop 980 are both miles better than the 980M you have above), whether you really want a desktop CPU from the Octane series or whether the Defiance's 6700HQ is fine, etc, and post the spec up if you want feedback :) You have quite a lot of choices open to you in that price range.
