Need some advice....

I have a GIGABYTE GA-H61TN-00 (SOCKET 0) motherboard in my AIO, and Gigabyte say it is not possible for it to accept more than 8 gig or RAM. However, I have 16 gig of RAM in. How the heck is that?

Also my processor is the Intel Core i5 3450S @ 2.80GHz Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology. Is it possible to upgrade that to a more powerful chip?

Can you post your full spec?

This is the CPU support list for the GA-H61TN rev1.1, but given your point about the RAM I'm not sure how far we can take this as accurate.

Even if this list is accurate, while you can upgrade to what is technically a more powerful CPU it will almost certainly not be worth the upgrade cost. Upgrading intel CPUs within the same socket when you already have a decent i5 rarely are, imo.

Not for the price they want for the chip I agree :(

What full spec? There's hundreds of parameters, can you narrow down what you think might be helpful?

Keynes is asking for the full spec of the AIO you purchased from PCS, as it comes off the configurator.

Looking up that Motherboard on the Gigabyte site does seem to suggest it can't take more than 8GB, your spec has 16GB in it, but its possible your PC is just ignoring 8GB of it and can only use 8GB in total.

If you could go to the 'Control Panel' of the PC (you can go there from the Start menu), and go to the 'System' section, it should bring up a screen which will show your PCs basic info, including the Installed memory. How much does it show for the installed memory?

PS. Just out of curiosity I presume this is not a PCSpecialist build (it doesn't look like one to me)?

HI, it does indeed use 16 gig, and yes it was bought from PC Specialist about 2 years ago.

Well it looks fine then as it claims 15.9 is usable so yes it is fine with 16GB
After looking at the Gigabyte site again it says
2 x 1.5V DDR3 SO-DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
This could just mean each SO-DIMM slot can support 8GB and since there are two SO-DIMM slots that makes 16GB - although it's easy to misread that as 8GB in total.
