As well as a GPU and PSU upgrade, I'd upgrade RAM to 16GB (2x8GB) at 3200 or 3600 MHz. Given your budget of €500, I think a 2060 is a good option (~€350). If you login to your PC Specialist account, and select the upgrade option, what options does PCS offer for GPU upgrade?

The 2060 is a decent call, though I'd personally suggest the AMD Radeon 6600 instead: the same performance or a little better but significantly cheaper. I'd go for at least a 550W power supply; I'd suggest looking at the 750W range instead. And I'd upgrade your RAM to 2x8GB of 3200MHz. I think that should all come in at about £420, maybe a little less, so probably around the 500€ mark.

I would echo this for the budget.

AMD have made major headway on their DLSS and Ray Tracing technologies with the V2 of their FSR technology, it's far better and bridging the gap with nVidia.

Obviously it's still new, so has to be written into games, but it's showing a LOT of promise.

That's aside from the general performance improvements to their graphics drivers recently

And general OpenGL improvements in Windows

wow, thanks for the great response. I asked them about the CPU and they said this. "AMD is coming out with a new line of CPUs in about 6-8 months I believe which you could wait for but right now my suggestion is definitely the Ryzen 5 5600 X" . so you think I should wait or get this CPU. I am going to get the 2x8GB of 3200MHz and the MD Radeon 6600. if i upgraded in CPU. Does this mean that I should get a different graphics card or ram?

I don't believe the X570 motherboard you have will support the new generation of AMD CPUs. I believe Zen 4 will have a new chipset and socket so they won't be compatible

I will say though that the X570 was a very good choice and opens you up to the potential of going with a 5800X3D if you wanted to get something on the high end. The 5600x would be an excellent choice too

You will need a new CPU cooler though, to my knowledge the stock cooler for the 3100 isn't the same as the one for the 5600x. The 5600x doesn't run all that hot though so just a cheap and decent air cooler like the 212 Hyper would be a good call

If you did want to go to the higher end of things like the 5800X3D I'd recommend an AIO liquid cooler like the H100i but they can get pricey

You can't fit the upcoming CPUs as they're new motherboards and new RAM also, so it's essentially a full rebuild.

So if I went with the
2x8GB of 3200MHz
5800X3D
AIO liquid cooler like the H100i
AMD Radeon 6600
750W.

Would this be a good upgrade? Does anyone know a good Tv monitor about 60 inches? that would go with this.

That would be a gigantic upgrade mate, I wouldn't go with a TV though the 6600 is a 1080p high refresh card so I'd be looking for a 24" 1080p 144Hz IPS Monitor to suit the build

I'm not sure that's a value for money upgrade. The 5800X3D is hundreds of pounds more than the 5600, but with the Radeon 6600 the performance difference will be minimal as in almost all situations you'll be limited by the graphics card

You're away over 500€ now. For this kind of money I'd say you'd be better off with a 5600 and the stock cooler, the RAM, a 3060 Ti, the power supply, and a 27" 1440p monitor.

This would be a better way to blow the budget for sure

Just to note: I was looking at upgrade options through my account and noticed that the 2x8 3200MHz RAM is actually more expensive than the 2x8 3600MHz RAM. The 5600x is cheaper than the 5600

PSU: It is almost 50 Euros more to get the 750w RMx vs the 550w TxM. The RMx will give more options in future if you plan to upgrade to 1440p either now or later; if you plan to stay at 1080p, order the 2060 and never upgrade in this machine's lifetime, then the 550w will be ample (I run a 550w with my 2060 Super and it's fine).

@sck451 option is the best one as it gives you the much better graphics (1440p is a big step up from 1080p)...however, that will more thandouble your budget once you factor in the cost for a decent monitor (just over £700 for the components and £300 for a decent monitor is just over 1100 Euros

The cheaper option of:

5600x
stock cooler
2x8 3600MHz RAM
NVIDIA 2060
750w RMX PSU

is still going to be near 700 Euros (just under 650 is going with the 550w TxM). You originally said your budget was 500 Euros and we seem to be a lot higher...so perhaps is the time to revisit the budget question and see what your budget currently is (the absolute maximum).
Would still suggest the 6600 over the 2060, but otherwise I agree. Good catch on the 5600X pricing!

Hi all

Please see my build below. I was recommended the below upgrade a few months back but I said I would wait until the black Friday sale. My budget is 900 euros. Is this still the best upgrade for this budget or would you recommend anything else?

2x8GB of 3200MHz
5800X3D
AIO liquid cooler like the H100i
AMD Radeon 6600
750W.

Thanks for your help karl.

Hi all

Can someone please tell me if what I am buying is correct?

Here is what you recommend.

5600x (with stock cooler)

2x8GB 3600MHz RAM

AMD 6600 GPU

750w RMx

I have sourced these on amazon uk. I am not sure about some of them. first, I just want to make sure that I'm getting the correct components that match my build. Also, not sure if I should get the more expensive one. If anyone thinks there is better stuff that I should change on my new upgrade. Please advise. any help would be grateful

2x8GB of 3200MHz

not sure which one is the best

option 1

option 2

Radeon 6600

5600x (with stock cooler)

750w RMX PSU
