Hi all and Merry Christmas,
My new build arrived yesterday and just wanted to share a pic. Its really a beast and didnt expect it to be that huge !! Thanks to everyone who helped me with the specs in here https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/new-dev-pc-for-ai-ml-applications.86197/
Its only been a couple of days but its been quite impressive so far.

I also need to get a monitor to pair with this build. From the discussions in monitors thread - seems the cheapest and best value for money 4k monitor is https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/gamin...28-ips-gaming-monitor-black-10231357-pdt.html
Can i just confirm my thinking is correct before i order this ?
I know there is a 32 inch one as well but dont have the (physical) space for it unfortunately

Nice build👍

The Gigabyte is a decent monitor despite being one of the cheapest, it's certainly not budget and keeps up with more expensive panels.

Thanks - i will go for it then and hopefully get it this week !

One more thing - im not sure if this is normal or a fault but I thought ill post it in case. When i shut down the comp via windows 11 start menu. It shuts down ok. So in the pic below everything except for the start button and HERO sign is lit up.

IMG_4054.jpg

But when i try turning it on via the button on the top of the case (left pic) it doesnt work unless the main switch at the back of the case (next to the power plug ) is turned off and on (right pic).
Then the button on top of the case seems to power it back on. Is that normal and is the switch at the back supposed to be turned off
everytime after shutting down ? I didnt want to be doing it unnecessarily in case the system gets screwed up - but it could be the normal thing to do so just checking.

By default, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom still have PC's going into hibernation by default when you shut down. It's a legacy thing that was relevant back in the days when we had HDD's as OS drives and it took an age to boot up, but it's no longer a relevant reason to have hibernation enabled.

It may be that it's failing to hibernate properly and therefor when you turn the power off on the PSU, it's properly shutting it down ready to start again.

My suggestion would be to disable Hibernation. There are a few benefits for this, you'll gain 64Gb of space on the C drive as it reserves that for hibernation, plus it will hopefully improve startups and general performance.

To disable hibernation just open cmd prompt as administrator and type the following:

powercfg -h off

Then reboot and see if it's improved it.

No that shouldn't work that way. The obvious thing to check is that quick startup is disabled in, I think, the power settings. Try that first and see how you get on.

Past that, it may be a BIOS setting :)

You absolute genius, that worked :D  !

A similar issue is happening with sleep option on the power settings (it switches everything off except for the start light) and cant turn it back on unless i turn power off on PSU. Do i turn off sleep in balanced power plan and just turn off display (in case it goes to sleep in 1hr when not in use - and dont want to lose any unsaved work if I cant power it back on). Apologies, Im more of a Mac user so havent used win 10 or 11.
Do i also need to disable fast startup as @Scott suggested ?

Ok all done ! Thanks again
Seems like Gigabyte monitor is not in stock at the moment so hopefully they get some soon. Ill post pics when i finally receive it. In the meantime, ill get used to the weird layout of windows 11 where the start button is no longer in the usual place ....... :ROFLMAO:

There was another box with a number of cables (PCIe i think) -im assuming those are extras if I need to send the PC back to PC Specialist in the future for any servicing and i shouldn't need to use any of those now right (although im guessing that would invalidate the warranty if i did this myself) ?

Am I also right in thinking that new PCs come with an XBOX game pass for a month (or was that an old offer ?)

if your PC came with the offer of 1 month xbox game pass, the best way to check is to open Microsoft store and go to "included with device" it should show up there if its included

Yes, the box contains any left over motherboard and SATA type cables. Keep them stored somewhere as you may need them for upgrades in the future.

Thanks for that - unfortunately looks like its not included. However, just realised that there's an incredible offer on game pass at the moment, so may go for that !

I saw that, it's £1 for 3 months or something insane!

Do check your spam folder, as you may have been sent emails that went into that.

Also check your online account, as any freebie keys should be on there also.

There’s also the cheaper way to Get Game Pass Ultimate if you’ve not got a current subscription.

You buy enough Xbox Live codes to last 3 years, apply them to your account, and then upgrade the whole lot to Game Pass for £1.
