New build- no post

So I received my new build today. I'll post the specs below. This being my very 1st purchase from pc specialist and my 1st gaming pc I am so disappointed.

On initial plug in, there was no activity from the pc. No lights. No fans. Nothing. My wife (being more technically advanced than me) made sure that all components were connected securely. After adjusting the 24 pin power cable the fans came to life, as did the RGB on the ram. The RGB in the fans flickered but nothing more happened.

The ram RGB comes one automatically before the power button is even pressed. Is this normal?

The pc refuses to power down via the case power button. I am having to use the power supply switch.

On the advice of the people on the phone we did all the basic checks (connections/power cycle/ram slots/CPU cooler).

So here I am, hoping that someone here has the answer I am missing before the computer gets picked up tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This may be a bit of a blessing in disguise. Unfortunately that's not a well configured PC at all. Always best to get some independent advice before purchasing (The mods & users of this forum are completely impartial)

I would genuinely send that system back and then get some advice on a new build.

Some good info here:

With regards to the situation as it stands.

You have suggested it won't turn off via the power button. This is fairly standard and it shouldn't do until completely configured inside Windows.

Are you saying that the system boots up to windows, you can log in.... but then the power button does nothing? Does Start - Shutdown work?

No windows installed. The system isn't posting at all so can't get into the bios to sort that part out. When I plugged in a keyboard it appeared that no power was even going to the keyboard as no lights.

Sounds like you’ve done the normal troubleshooting checks with PCS support, and failed. So returning it for repair is the best option I think.
