Well thats good to know, means I can save myself some money when it comes round to renew end of the year.
Ive also taken out the Win 10 licence which freed up a good chunk of cash too.

Im not gonna change the spec again though :ROFLMAO: I think ive spent quite enough already.

Other good news as well and my K70 RGB MK.2 arrived, ive hooked it up to my partners machine along with my razer mamba to make sure iCue and Synapse dont cause glitches anymore, and it all works beautifully (mouse used to go a bit crazy when i originally did it after buying a corsair Void headset). So i'm good to go with the current mouse i use with the laptop for a while yet.

Was reading another thread and I found this
But with a couple of changes, I went for a 500GB SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 and a Win 10 license as I don't have any physical install media (and the other two windows 10 licenses I have are upgrades from win 8.1/10 and 7, but both digitial entitlements for that hardware itself, I only had a physical win 8.0 license besides that)
The licence I would be using was Win 8.1 that came with my current PCS laptop, and I upgraded as part of the free upgrade back when it was launched. Does this mean I cant transfer the licence and should be getting a new operating system licence?
Looked at prices direct from Microsoft for Win 10 Pro, and its over £200 (cheaper here) but I can also see products keys being sold on places like Amazon for significantly less.

No, so long as you tie the license to your microsoft account first, then you can legiitimately transfer it to the new machine.

Windows 10 pro from microsoft is £220, anything over that you're getting ripped off.

Anywhere significantly cheaper is likely to be a grey market, ie illegally sourced.

Its all linked yeah, so I should be good to go when it arrives.
Still waiting on accounts to reply to the guy whos sorted out my order, I was very lucky they cleared it all to respec to AMD.
They know about the case selection of the 500D SE, just waiting on accounts to confirm the final bill, but looks like i'll have about £25/30 to pay.

Not sure I get the issue with the B550 colour? It's black, like majority of motherboards. Sure it doesn't have lots of pretty colours on it...not sure that's reason enough to spend more money on another board
It’s theme is yellow. I hate yellow. The rog strix is more to my likings design wise. Thst being said i really wished they had stocked the b550 rog strix e.

What if I changed it to this, dropping the GPU right down, and upgrading to the Firecuda to start with, rather than in a year.
At Xmas, i'd buy one of the new GPU's (or early in the new year).
Even the lower spec of the new cards is still going to be better than the 2070 Super from what I understand, Would a basic 2060 be ok for 6 months, I figure Dota/WoW/Witcher III should all play at med/high if not better, without issue? I wouldnt of thought it would bottle neck anything enough to be a problem in terms of games, but would the 1440p 165Hz Monitor be too much for it?

What monitor are you pairing it with? What make and model?

Sorry if you've already mentioned it, there's been so many changes I can't keep up!

Edit: Sorry, just noticed you've got one in the build!

I know...I really did go like a bull in a china shop when I started, and picking it apart has made a lot of work! Sorry.
Its the AOC AGON AG271QG 27" Gsync Gaming Monitor, 144Hz which can be boosted to 165Hz, 1440p IPS panel.

Im just thinking, if it wasnt replacing a system thats dying, I would of waited for the new GPU's. And I know I'm already looking at the Firecuda for in a year. If I shuffled it about and got the GPU in 6 months instead, but had everything else in place already.
But would dropping the GPU down like that to keep it in budget for now... more harm than good?

The 2060 Super would pair fine with that monitor, you'd average around 60 - 80fps.

With the upcoming GPU's you should be able to get a 3060 and max out that screen quite happily.

The rest of the build looks fine.

Probably worth it if you're happy selling on the 2060 Super later on. Bit of a hassle but well worth it for the 3000 series cards.

So the super, not the regular 2060?
If I do it?

Still wont touch it till they catch up on where I am atm with spend, accounts still havent replied to sales to confirm a refund amount.

Ah, sorry, didn't see you had the normal 2060, that would suck big time, not worth it at all, you'd want the 2060 Super as an absolute minimum but it's an extra £75 ish.

Yeah, Pushes the budget just a little too high I would of been within it still with the regular.
I'm gonna sit on it and let them catch up to where we are now like I said. I'd have to have a real think if I can squeeze anything else but feeling is telling me its not a good idea and to leave it as it is.

I think im just gonna stick to the original plan,
I was already planning on a 1Tb Firecuda (or similar spec) in 6 months to a year, i'll look at GPU's after that.
I just thought maybe there was a way to speed up the whole thing, rather than pacing it out over next few years.

I am set on having a IPS screen, and although there was a LG one that was about £400 I took to the AOC Agon and its got some nice bonus features, I know IPS bumps the price up significantly.

In my honest opinion the above is the best build overall out of all of them. It's going to perform far better for gaming.

The XT vs the X argument only applies when adding it as an upgrade, not swapping it out for anything else unfortunately. The same goes with the 970 vs the Firecuda. There's just not enough in it to warrant dropping anything to make room for it. Adding it in a while is a great option. In fact, I wouldn't get too hung up even on adding it as the SX8200 Pro would be my gaming M2 drive of choice. The Firecuda should only ever be installed as either a primary drive or a fast cache/scratch drive. It's not going to make much odds against other really fast M2s when it comes to game loads.

If it were my money, the above is what I would buy. Any changes made, for me, would be additions rather than substitutions.

Your spec just needed a little working around to squeeze the 2060S in....Given your uses, I'm not sure the Firecuda is worth the price jump (sure it's nice to have but, to me, it's a luxury rather than a necessity) and the Rog Strix motherboard is certainly not worth the price jump. This is what I'd go with:

Case
CORSAIR OBSIDIAN SERIES™ 500D SE CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT Eight Core CPU (4.7GHz/36MB CACHE/AM4)
Motherboard
ASUS® TUF X570-PLUS GAMING (USB 3.2 Gen 2, PCIe 4.0, CrossFireX) - ARGB Ready!

My build (that Scott and Nursemorph help me do) is very similar to this. The only differences are CPU (3600XT), MB (B550), GPU (I ordered the 1650 super because I'll only be using 1080p for a couple of months until I can get a 34' or 38' monitor and a new GPU with it) and the cooler was the H115i. All the rest is the same, even case (I just got some RGB led strips because why not lol)

@Scott I agree that the build is the best one...does it really need the Strix board though? Especially given the huge price jump on it over the other 570? I thought the only major difference between them was the VRM count and that wasn't really a factor with gaming? Or am I misinformed again
It’s not the usage, but the cpu it’s holding, anything over the 3800x probably needs the strix, anything under should be fine with a lesser board
