New Custom Build

Had my new PC for a few days, and well pleased. Its mainly used for video editing and a complete delight compared with my old 10 year old machine.
It takes no more than 20 minutes to output 10 minutes of 4K (UHD) footage at HQ render settings. The editing itself is a breeze. No need for proxy files if I dont want to!
My old pc woul take about 4 days to complete the same task, if indeed it didnt crash first.

Haggar :)

Nice spec, that’s be the processor I go for when I eventually update my platform.

What software do you use to render?

Definitely built for purpose, sounds like great performance too.

How are your temps during rendering? Everything staying within expected norms? Is it loud?

Its much quiter than my previous machine. The temps appear to be well under control. What I might try is to dissable hardware processing and use software only. Just to see how much difference the CPU makes over the last machine.

I think the GPU only really comes into play for effects etc. Could be wrong though, it's been a while since I messed around with video editing/processing.

the 3900x is a monster of a CPU for image processing, that would be an interesting test!

That's pretty funny actually, to have the CPU outgunning the GPU for effect processing :ROFLMAO:

Wonder what it would take to out-gun it....... seems like 2070 territory given the %age.

Put it under your pillow, the CPU fairy might swap it for a 3950x

Speaking of which....

Oooft!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Intel MUST be feeling the burn with that. 0.3ghz less per core but double the cores!

Have you seen AMD’s new 64 core Epyc server chips? Literally over double the performance of intels equivalent for 3k less!

I'm just really glad they don't have the market cornered anymore. Giving people a viable option just makes it win win for everyone. Intel have been extremely conserved with their releases in the last few years due to not needing to do anything. The pendulum has massively swung, we are back to the AMD Athlon II days, those were brilliant times :D

Well, sorry to say, but it appears to have all gone wrong. Developed WHEA error, reset system and now cant use more that two usb ports at a time. This has been deteriorating over the last few days. Working hard with tech support. WiFi is a joke.

Recieved a reasuring email yesterday, but the link sent to me for a fix doesnt work. Explained that early today in my reply, but my mail hasnt even been read.

So if anyone at PCspecialist reading this would like to call me about order xxx I would love to hear from you. Have your cheque book ready.

What a shame, but there we are. :-(

The forums aren't an official support channel so PCS staff may not see your post, or quickly if they do.

The lines are open to 8pm. You could call them?

(I also removed the order number from your post to prevent anyone misusing it. Mods and admins can see post version histories, so if a staffer did see your post they could still see your order number by looking at the post history.)
