Arrived yesterday which is a few days sooner than I anticipated. Shocked in a good way at how thin the thing is, considering how powerful.

First impressions are great. Downloaded Control Centre, nVidia software and Soundblaster Atlas from PCs, turned off the backlit keyboard and running at reasonably low power settings for now. It'll be interesting to see once I am into a heavy editing job whether the performance settings make a big difference forwhat I need to do. Tweaked the EQ to get a little more clarity out of the crappy speakers, but anyone who is spending this kind of money is either on externals or cans, so I kind of don't care.

No gaming as yet.

Having read that battery is awful across some of the newer PCS laptops, I'm reading 7 hours whilst it is sitting Idle. That's pretty damn good.

Build quality is good, but I wouldn't want to knock it, with such a small bezel.

Am really happy.

I am torn between this Defiance 17"& the Vyper 17" There are some comments & short reviews from Vyper owners, some not great, TBH.
I eagerly await your experience with this machine!!
Congrats on the purchase

Ive heard is made from aluminum - it is the whole laptop ? or has plastic parts as well ?

Would be interesting to see some stats while gaming - like thermals CPU/GPU.
