New (Gaming) Office PC

Since you were all so helpful when I was getting my PC I though I would come back for advice.
My boss has asked me to help him spec a new PC but he has a slightly different requirement.
The company are buying him a PC for when he is working from home and there are no cost limits (although nothing too silly).
He mostly wants to use it for gaming when he is not in work however it has to look like a work PC (plain black no RGB etc.).
Does the system below look sensible?
Also can anyone advise on a good monitor, mechanical keyboard and mouse that are good for gaming but look sensible?
Last problem is the company don't like us buying from ebay / amazon etc. so they have to be available from non-marketplace stores.

Thanks

Spec: Can't see anything wrong with it as such but it would depend on what sort of work they are doing.

Monitor: Do they have a limited space? If space is not a factor, then the Samsung G9 is the perfect work and gaming monitor:

Samsung G9

That one is £999. There is one which is £1600 but no clue whether it is any better or worth the extra:

Samsung G9 (1)
The G9 Neo is the more expensive one, it's significantly better in every way although still has some firmware bugs that need fiddling to get right. Either one is amazing though both for gaming and productivity.

If I'm honest I'm pretty sure his work could be done on a £400 desktop PC. Outlook, Teams Small Excel Spreadsheets etc.
I think he may have work buying him a desk too lol.

I cant see them signing off on a £3.5K computer if thats all he needs for work....
Not unless theyre really rich, and clueless.

This would be more sensible, and still run a decent 1440p screen.
Also more explainable if they ever question the expense

Work is not the important factor here, GAMING IS!!!
If theyre paying for it as a work pc, someone is gonna look at the invoice.... I dont know of anyway to explain 32GB RAM and a 3080 gpu for excel :D

Not unless the know absolutely nothing about computers...

There's no price limit though. I wouldn't settle for anything less than 4k 144Hz or Superwide, the new Alienware Ultrawide would also be a worthwhile consideration at lower resolution, that's a sublime monitor.

....is your next bit to ask if they need to consider off-site backup servers that you could store for him?

Bosses aren't like you or I, they don't have anyone looking over how much they've spent on their expenses, they can pretty do what they want so long as they're not outright stealing.

I would definitely say you're on the right tracks with the first build, I've just edited the game / storage SSD as new DirectStorage technology will mean that speed will improve game performance, it's a pretty cool tech that just about to go live in games

I've also upped the motherboard to the strix, it's just a better board for longevity, and has far better VRM support

For monitors these are the ones I'd suggest:

4k:

Ultrawide (possibly the best monitor in existence at the moment):

Superwides as posted by @JustARandomPerson above

I think he has an auto approval budget of up to £50k and even if they did notice I don't particularly think they would care. They spent 30k per person flying 4 of them business to Singapore for a last minute meeting shortly before Covid. Would have been about £5k per person if then had waited a couple of weeks and booked in advance. Not an MP lol. Its a private company with one owner.

Can we put a consultancy fee on this then please?
£5K should do it, i'll split it with Spyder....

I command at least 10k just for me ;)

I would definitely pimp out, I appreciate the Alienware is an Ultrawide which is 3440 x 1440, it's like having 1.5 x 1440p monitors alongside each other so it's a different perspective, but it's widely being heralded as the best monitor of any kind ever released, both for professional use and gaming, it's just an absolute dream.

Until you've experienced HDR gaming, it's hard to fathom what a marked improvement it makes to colours and blacks. This is the true daddy of all HDR monitors.

Corsair K70 RGB MKII ....no fancy macro buttons, fully cusomisable RGB backlighting and inbuilt media controls (play/forward/stop etc) so can control volume and media playback.

Mechanical keyboard, choice of cherry key type and aluminium chassis, very durable, usb passthrough as well so you can stick a fingerprint reader or something in ittoo (very handy)

Thanks. Any tips for keyboard and mouse? Need to look plain.
Ooooh, for keyboards, check out Ducky, I believe Overclockers has the best stocks of these.

They are simply the best mechanical keyboards available, switches can be swapped out easily, you can get custom keycap sets, but comes with doubleshots as standard

This is an example of one of their "Plain" ones, which are anything but plain in performance

But this is the extent of the options:

For Mice, these two are top performing wireless options:

You can disable the lights on all those.
