I’m finding adding a monitor to the spec build very frustrating. It doesn’t say or at least it’s not obvious what the refresh rate is and if it has free sync or not?
is there a better way to search this site to find a monitor to go with the build?
I think a 27” curved screen 144hz with free sync is why I’m after?

You don't have to buy the monitor from PC Specialist, easily half of the ones I put on that list aren't :)

For 1440p, 144hz, 27" and curved (with freesync), PCS do have a good option which is the 27" MSI OPTIX MAG271CQR

Hi again,
After having another look at placing the order for the build that was suggested to me, when I’ve added WiFi and liquid cooling the AMD is about the same price as the I7 with the 2060 super graphics card. Considering the AMD build is the slightly cheaper spec I’m struggling to see where the extra cost is on the AMD build or where I’ve saved on the I7 build??
Any suggestions?
I’m hoping to get one ordered this week and then get his monitor at the weekend.

Can you post up the full spec you are looking at for the AMD system?

If you have the spec in the configurator, click Proceed. It will produce a spec summary, under which is a POst to Forum button that formats it for easy reading on the forums

Will help identify what's bring pricey

nps :) For me that comes out as £1169

The £18 wifi card (WIRELESS INTEL® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2,400Mbps/5GHz, 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD + BT 5.0)
and the RTX 2060 Super (+£28)

make is £1215

Which is £148 less than the £1369 you quoted for the original Intel etc spec.

The liquid cooler you had in the Intel spec is only £44/45 too.

Did you add one of the £90 wifi cards or the RTX 2070 Super or something?

This is what the spec I drew up looks like with the wifi, with the RGB 240mm cooler, and the RTX 2060 Super

I’m confused again!
I went to buy the Acer Nitro XV272 WQHD monitor which is a 1440, 144hz monitor with free sync. But the chat support on box.co.uk has just said that free sync is AMD screen technology and it may not work with GeForce cards as I need a monitor with GSync to be sure????

I think someone wants to sell you a more expensive monitor.

It's factually accurate to say that Nvidia don't guarantee adaptive sync will work to a certain level with any monitor other than those that they certify as Gsync Compatible, Gsync, or Gsync Ultimate.

But pretty much every hardware website that went out and tested 'Freesync' monitors with Nvidia GPUs found they worked fine.

Which is unsurprising, since Freesync is an AMD branding of adaptive sync, and Nvidia has enabled adaptive sync support.

The worst case scenario realistically is that on the occasional game, adaptive sync doesn't play nice. But on the occasional game, full gsync doesn't work either. Whether it's full-on, Nvidia-certified gsync or plain old freesync with an Nvidia GPU, I've seen horrible stutter in Far Cry games. Nvidia don't have the bets track record of supporting their own technologies, very sadly...

A 1440p 144hz gsync monitor will set you back £500-£600 or more. And be exclusive to Nvidia GPUs meaning if you ever want to buy an AMD GPU in the future, or an Intel one when those launch in 2020/2021, adaptive sync will be guaranteed not to work with those...

You can buy that monitor and be highly confident adaptive sync (we call it Freesync but it's adaptive sync) will work fine with your RTX 2070 Super.

Another option is to switch the GPU to an RX 5700 XT, save £90 on the PC, and just have a freesync monitor on an AMD GPU.
