New Laptop, £1k budget.

Hello gaming experts, I am looking to upgrade my old laptop.
I previously build an Optimus Series: 17.3" back in 2016, having a core i5, 8GB ram, GTX 960m and a 240Gb SSD costing me £745. This is working just fine but feels a bit outdated.
I'm thinking I got a budget of £1000 to build a new one and this is my config:

Chassis & Display
Cosmos Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD IPS 60Hz 72% NTSC LED Widescreen (1920x1080) - I am in love with the big display
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™ i7 Six Core Processor 9750H (2.6GHz, 4.5GHz Turbo)
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair 2666MHz SODIMM DDR4 (2 x 16GB) - extra memory for multitasking (emulators)
Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 - 3.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st Storage Drive
250GB Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW) - I'm happy with sacrificing space as I don't store many games
Memory Card Reader
Integrated 6 in 1 Card Reader (SD /Mini SD/ SDHC / SDXC / MMC / RSMMC)
AC Adaptor
1 x 120W AC Adaptor
Thermal Paste
COOLER MASTER MASTERGEL MAKER THERMAL COMPOUND

I would hold off to be honest. I don't think that is much of an upgrade gaming wise. Ideally you want a laptop with a 2060 in it for it to be a proper upgrade to last a couple of years.

Gaming wise it would technically be a big upgrade over a 960M. But it's not worth £1000. As a 1050 is still very entry level. If it's way more than enough for your needs you can probably stick to your old Optimus. If you want to upgrade to get more performance, you should try to squeeze much more out of £1000.

PCS's 17.3" options are a bit of a no go here, as for £1000 you want to aim for GTX 1060 at least.

However for 15.6" you can get a GTX 1660 ti, which is lightyears ahead of either your old GPU or the 1050.

You can replace the RAM down the line if you are sure you need 32gb. Otherwise just add an 8gb stick.

If it has to be 17.3", buy something from elsewhere with better than a 1050 in it. Assuming such exists.

I was almost positive, performance wise, the 1050 and the 960m were about on par. The 960m rated fairly poorly compared to the 960, I get that. I don't think the 1050 in the laptops is a cut down version.... or is it? It may be a bit better but I didn't think it would be THAT good.

Edit: I take it back, seems there's a good 30% in it....

Still not worth a grand, but better than I actually thought.

970M = GTX 960 (the desktop one) = GTX 1050 ti. Ish.

960M was entry level at best - 750 ti equivalent maybe? Been a few years. (checked, 3dmark says ~ish)

Yeah, majorly not worth a grand.

Optimus Spec looks good.

How sure are you that you need the extra RAM? For general gaming, even multitasking while gaming, 16gb is more than plenty.

Depending on the price difference, consider faster RAM. Can help a lot in some games, especially some of those more CPU dependent ones (WoW, FO4, many more probably)
