Better to lower the CPU and double the memory. Most software is not CPU hungry. Except Microsoft teams, which is a bit rubbish for memory and CPU.

It actually depends on the user's needs. In my case, I agree with you and done the same with my laptop, but that won't be true for everyone. Even though 32Gb is overkill for most people at the moment, it only makes sense if you don't want to change RAM again in the future (it will probably be useful for most people in 4 years or so).

Agreed, all down to the software you are running. But suggest 8gig for the OS if 64bit then the rest for your apps. Clearly if you have 32 bit OS then the memory is a bit irrelevant. MS teams is RAM hungry.

Maybe it depends on how many apps, teams and chats you have? How much RAM is your Teams using? Mine takes about 600Mb

As i use Teams, for chats, calls, file storage etc, 4-5 gig at a peak. It is a known issue, skype was better, but did not have the sharepoint functionality.

So what I have is good for me, and a bit of contingency..... The RAM was cheap, and I am once built leave alone and do not upgrade any more. We are all happy in the knowledge that in a couple of years time, the machine will be considered antiquated :(

wow, that is a lot of RAM! Have you tried reinstalling it to see if it helps? I use Teams for all those same features, but maybe you have a lot more teams and files than me ;)

Yes i did thanks, I do have many channels and some hefty files. I also run a product called SAS but that does not seem to use as much of the RAM.
I did struggle with the previous laptop which was 16 gig. But saying that it was a Toshiba and nearly 6 years old. I am really please with this one so far
