New laptop!

Morning all! :D(y)

I've been looking for a fairly decent gaming laptop (no space for a tower anymore) for a few months now and I'm still undecided on what to go for. I was hoping if I could get a nudge in the right direction if possible please?🤤

I've an Xbox Series X on it's way so that'll take the brunt of my gaming focus, I guess I'm after a laptop that could run games and apps like Netflix / Spotify / Football Manager 21 / Runescape / WoW on ultra high settings with easy high FPS/frame rate etc, but would have to take my work life into account too?

Would it be as easy at getting the new MacBook Pro or could it be something that I've missed on the market? I'm looking around the £1000-1200 mark if it means I can get something that'll run the above with ease and wouldn't need updating within a few years!

Many thanks!

I'm not really the expert when it comes to laptops but an often asked question is how portable do you need it to be? If it's not going to moving much, you could get a DTR (desktop replacement). They're pretty hefty, so you wouldn't want to be lugging it about too often and the battery life is poor when not hooked up to the power. But they use full desktop CPUs and therefore have a bit more grunt when it comes to gaming.

Thanks for the reply! I'd much something easier to carry around as I have work meetings in various locations around London etc etc.. I simply don't have space for a DTR or Tower anymore I'm afraid too.

Key question here regarding portability - are you able to plug in - gaming laptops come with very limited battery life. Even running minimal items, someone tested the optimus Pro recently and got about 5 hours maximum out of the battery. Could be less using wifi etc on it.

If you are looking for a gaming laptop then you will limited to its portability for working with it unless you can plug in most / all the time.

If however that is not an issue, I currently have an Optimus Pro XI (spec in signature) and find it is really good at the moment - been playing Satisfactory on high details and cant say I have noticed any really slow FPS yet - Im not one that constantly looks at the stats of FPS, but just notice if my game is "slow" LOL.

Mine cost around £1600 though but I have gone overboard on the memory LOL.

To save money do you have a system that will be redundant and therefore can use the windows 10 license from it instead of paying for a new one?

It'll mainly be plugged at home and with work to be honest, I'm not somebody who pops their laptop open in a park for hours on end and complains about the battery!

64GB Ram!? Ok, I think that may be a tad overkill for what I need but my god, it must be insane!

I was looking at this and I've read/watched a few reviews. It's seemingly a good blend of what I need with a decent spec and I believe it's somewhat upgradeable?

As you're on a PC Specialist owned forum, we'd only be able to discuss PCS builds, it's against forum rules to comment on competitor or self-builds.

I went for the 64 gig as I do quite a bit of photo work (amateur) and stitch and merge a lot of my .raw files together to get some pictures to print on canvas for at home.

Personal preference is to take the best warranty possible on a laptop but you could lower this to the Silver reducing further by £64 and then add Win10 in for just over £1200 then.
