New member - 30 series got me in a dilemma!

Hey everyone! I've been a gamer (mostly console) all of my days but always had a semi-respectable laptop for medium spec gaming, 3D CAD and general use. I bought a laptop from PCSPECIALIST about 4-5 years ago; 8gb RAM 2GB 960m. I always had a Playstation and XBOX and my laptop acted as a 'backup' gaming system.

I was so close to ordering a 2070 laptop from PCSPECIALIST to replace my current laptop but then Nvidia dropped the 30 series! I'll still be buying a next-gen console as my main gaming machine.

My main questions is - will the 30 series cards be coming to laptop soon? I'm still somewhat tempted to buy a next-gen console and order a 2070 laptop but I have a feeling this is a foolish move...

I'm starting my PGDip in January and was hoping I could get a laptop by then!

Thanks for reading

This question came up the other day and a mod informed us that laptop versions of new cards are usually released around six months after the desktop ones 👍

Do you guys think I should wait the 6 months or just get a 20 series laptop as I'll be getting a PS5 anyway?

Thanks a personal decision really, will your current rig keep up with your 3D CAD work? Obvs the PS5 will keep the gaming side happy

If you can hold off 6 months for the next gen then I absolutely would. I know that by then there will be yet another technology on the horizon, but the Zen3 might be available on a DTR by then too.
