You would be much better off posting your intended uses here, especially your intended VR uses, and your maximum budget. We can then spec you up exactly the right PCS build for your needs and budget, it may even turn out to be cheaper than the build your looking at. :)

Hi,thank you for reply, well my Budget right now is bout 1000,which is what this is,so basically, all I want the VR for is to watch Movies in VR Theatres like Cine Veo,Big Screen etc,I am not too bothered bout VR Gaming,I 1st noticed a PC called VR Stalker Pro,on Very.Com,but is now out of stock,so I saw this one which I noticed has similiar Spec,so pretty much all I want to know is if the GE Force 1060 3GB can do this?I noticed aswell, that some people say VR can run fine with a 8GB of Ram,but others say ya need more,so am not sure lol,but my Budget is bout 1000,thank you

I have a work PC for VR stuff, it uses 8Gb RAM and has a 970 (approximately equal to or weaker than a 1060). It works just about OK - some newer applications are a problem (stuttering etc) and large video files can have problems running smoothly. I sometimes take the kit back to use on my home PC and really notice the difference. What VR kit are you planning on using?

I looked up that PCS Spec and it appeared to be selling for ?1099 (or over ?1400 on another site lol?!?)

It's an old model, with obsolete hardware. In that you can buy newer, more powerful stuff for a lower price.

For instance if you bought a similar spec from PCS directly:

Case
PCS CYCLONE GAMING CASE (Blue LED Fans)
Processor (CPU)
Intel? Core™ i7 Six Core Processor i7-8700 (3.2GHz) 12MB Cache
---Get Just Cause 4, PUBG & More w/ select Intel CPUs!
Motherboard
ASUS? PRIME B360M-A: Micro-ATX, LGA1151, USB 3.1, SATA 6GBs - RGB Ready
Memory (RAM)
16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2400MHz (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card
4GB AMD RADEON™ RX 570 - HDMI, 3 x DP - DX? 12
1[SUP]st[/SUP] Storage Drive
2TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 256MB CACHE
Intel Optane Memory
16GB INTEL? OPTANE MEMORY - USE WITH MECHANICAL HDD
Power Supply
CORSAIR 550W VS SERIES™ VS-550 POWER SUPPLY
Processor Cooling
PCS FrostFlow 100 V2 Series High Performance CPU Cooler
Wireless/Wired Networking
WIRELESS 802.11N 300Mbps/2.4GHz PCI-E CARD
Operating System
Genuine Windows 10 Home 64 Bit - inc. Single Licence [KUK-00001]

Price ?949.00 including VAT and Delivery

Now I don't think you should buy this as there's better value out there, but the point is that if you did, you could buy it ?150 cheaper here it seems...

Similar performing but cheaper CPU
faster RAM
NVMe SSD rather than Optane module
More powerful graphics card
Better warranty.

I'll let Polycrac suggest which graphics card is the best bet here as he actually has experience with VR! (which I don't) For instance, If horsepower isn't important but VRAM is for example, the RX 580 could be a better buy. However, the 1660 is far more powerful than the 1060 3gb in the old Optimus model, and has double the VRAM.

But regardless, it's still better value than the Optimus...

Generally, the higher spec the card, the better the experience. When the Vive and Rift launched, the minimum spec was listed as the GTX 970 (that's when I switched to PC gaming and it was the 970 I got for that reason). Since then they've moved to recommending the GTX 1060 as minimum. Most stuff I can play fine on a 970, but some games (e.g. Nvidea funhouse) show that my kit doesn't cut it anymore - even on the lowest settings I struggle. And that's just the standard Vive. Using the Vive pro, I notice higher fps drops still.

At the other end, I noticed absolutely zero difference when I moved from a 1080ti to a 2080ti. The cards are overpowered for current VR gaming on a Vive pro. I believe they would be on the new Rift also. Where you would get mileage from a top end card would be the Pimax 8K, but even then I wouldn't recommend it. The Pimax doesn't use its full 8K to begin with because no GPU could realistically handle it. The plan is that incremental firmware updates will let it's full potential unfold over time, as cards grow to be able to deal with it.

Skyrim VR asks for: GTX 970 / AMD RX 480 8GB as a minimum and GTX 1070 8GB / AMD RX Vega 56 8GB as recommended

I would say that this is about right for now - anything over and above a 1070 is going to be an investment for future titles, rather than being of any extra use to you now.

Other considerations - in the STEAM store, updates to VR games come out a little slower for AMD than Nvidia, so if you go for a Vive, which works mainly through STEAM that might be an issue. I've no idea if the same its true for the Rift store.

This article is a little out of date (doesn't include e.g. the new RTX cards): https://babeltechreviews.com/oculus-rift-vr-benching-amd-vs-nvidia-part-2/view-all/

But it is EXCELLENT for benchmarking different cards. I'd love to say it taught me all I know about the different GPU requirements for VR, but that would imply that I actually understood it all and I don't! It deals with some of the technical aspects though, so you can learn what aspects of a GPU matter most for VR and apply the same logic to the newer cards too.

I would recommend a 1660ti given your above budget.
