Hi everyone, so i ordered the following and it has been in pre production for 2 days. After reading through some posts here i am wondering if i made the right choices and would like your opinions.

I will be selling the psu on arrival as i already have a cx600 i will be using instead. My plan was to also sell the RAM stick as i already have 2x 4gb patriot viper 1866mhz ddr3 and 2x 4gb crucial ballistix 1866mhz ddr3 which i used together on my old system. I also have 1tb hdd, 2x 120gb ssd's and 1x 60gb ssd at home already.

Do you have any suggestions as to any changes? I dont really want to spend much more as it was £1050 which i have ordered on finance.

You won't be able to use your old RAM with the new system. Those frequencies suggest it's DDR3 RAM which isn't compatible with the motherboard. It physically won't fit, and wouldn't work.

What are you using the PC for, exactly?

Gaming? if so, what monitor do you game on?

Do you stream gameplay to Twitch, youtube, etc?

Do you have any non-gaming uses? Animation, video editing, photo editing, 3d rendering? What software do you use if so?

If it's pretty much straight gaming you can drop the motherboard to B450-PLUS, and the CPU to R5 3600, still get the same gaming experience, and afford 2 x 8gb 3000MHz RAM (or 3200MHz RAM if you want to push the boat out or want the RGB version) while still making big savings overall.

Adding billions of small SSDs isn't great for your quality of life as you end up spending a lot of time managing space. SSDs are ridiculously cheap at the moment. Get a 512gb SX6000 from the M.2 SSD Drive menu and add in your old HDD if you want.

If you need wifi, swap the wifi card to the Intel AX200 which has a lot more features for little more cash.
If you don't need wifi, drop the card altogether

Why Windows 10 Pro?

The CX600 is not a particularly good PSU. If it's already seen a few years there'd be an argument for selling that off, and getting a TX550m which is a much, much better quality PSU.

You can drop the cheap cooler to the stock AMD cooler, which is actually decent enough. And don't bother with the better paste. If you were going to spend more on cooling, spend more on the actual cooler e.g. Cooler Master Lite 240, or the Frostflow 240 RGB if you like shiny things.

But as above, it all depends what you use the PC for - as per the questions :)

We love you Ukraine
You won’t be able to use your old RAM as modern boards are now on DDR4 which is a different socket and not compatible.

What’s the PC for? You can make amendment pre production without affecting the build time.

Edit: beaten!

Thanks guys,

I was just looking at the ram, i thought it was ddr4 and then changed my post to ddr3. Then quickly realised i couldnt use it lol. I will mainly just be gaming. My monitor is on its way out so i will be replacing soon. 1080p is fine for me.

Then the spec I posted above should fit your needs. :) You don't need an R7 3700x over an R5 3600 for £150 for gaming. Plus the other changes.

As for the monitor. You probably don't want to spend more than necessary, but I'd argue it's worth getting something half decent that will be a bit of an upgrade and serve you will for a while.

Assuming your current monitor is a basic 1080p 60hz thing:

You could get something for £180 like the MSI Optix MAG241C that is 144hz and has adaptive sync, which means it matches its refresh rate to your framerate (gameplay becomes visibly smoother). PCS sell it so you could get it as part of the order on finance I guess, or buy it from any other store.

There are also some really cheap 1080p 144hz options like the EG 24" which also has Freesync, at £130.

Or something with a TN panel like the Acer KG241QP, which is available online from around £140.
