New Ram - Black Screen

Hey guys, A few years back I bought a PCS laptop, but ran into a problem trying to upgrade RAM. I think I've figured out the issue but I want to ask away here anyway just in case its something different.

So, I bought 16gb ram (2x8gb) Corsair Vengeance for my laptop which arrived today, neither work in my laptop just a black screen when I press power on...no option to view bios, nothing.
Tried both sticks in all slots, both together and separately. Nothing.
My original 1 stick Kingston 8gb ram still works in both slots.
I try 1 stick of the new ram in another, older laptop the stick works perfectly fine. I try 1 of the sticks from that laptop in mine, nothing.

*I only went to BIOS on the older laptop, it shows the stick of ram is available IN BIOS but when trying to go through the boot up sequence, it flashes a BSOD asks me to launch start up repair, I start up that and then a permanent BSOD (Its running Windows 7, and I get these errors BAD_POOL_HEADER 0x00000019, 0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFF8000C207840, 0X0000000000000000, 0XFFFFF8000C207840)*

I try my original stick, with 1 of the new sticks in and it works but is only showing as 8gb Ram into the PCS laptop I'm ugrading
I cleaned the slots in-case this was the issue and still nothing
I ran a memtest86 and it only showed as the Kingston stick of ram in the laptop with no errors
I ran CPU-Z and its showing Ram in both slots, but is only showing that 1 Ram slot is used. (Attached images of this)

The only real difference I can see is that the original, Kingston RAM is 1.35v whereas the Corsair Vengeance is 1.5v - is this the reason? If its not such a difference, could it be that my BIOS may need updating/any way to change what voltage is used by the RAM slots at all?

Its an older PC Specialist laptop I bought, that I just wanted to show some love adding some RAM into it. Here are the original specs, if they are of any help:

Mainboard: Clevo W65_W67RB Skylake-H Intel Chipset
BIOS - American Megatrends Inc. 1.05.08 [11/05/2015]
CPU - Intel Core i5 6300HQ Socket 1440 FCBGA Skylake 2.3ghz (boost 32ghz)
RAM - DDR3L Kingston 8GB 1600mhz PC3-12800
VGA - Nvidia Geforce 940M

Not sure if there is anything more that you would require from the system information or not.
If it is the voltage, I'm sorry I have wasted your time reading, but if it is anything else then more than happy to give whatever you suggest a try!

Thanks, folks!

Can you post your full specs from your PCS order page please.
All details help.

Where did you buy your new RAM from?

Doing a quick google on DDR3L and DDR3 RAM, it looks like you can use DDR3L RAM in DDR3 based systems, but not the other way around so it may have something to do with the voltage as you say.

Is the model number on the label underneath the laptop stated the same as the mainboard?

If not can you give the model / chassis number from the label please?

I have done a search for a manual but cant find one with the number you have quoted.

Did you have a look in your order page to see about upgrading the memory through PCS and what it lists as options in there for purchasing?

On the label it has model: W650RB
It was 2016 I ordered the laptop in, so its roughly 5 years old now which may be why.
I went to the upgrade section just the https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/upgrade/ and couldn't see anywhere to put my device details in.

I've only just gotten back into my account about 5 minutes ago, as I coudln't remember which email address I had processed the order with, just seen in there where you mean about upgrading, and got a bit more information that you may have been looking for when looking over my order as I got the first list from my receipt which I stored on my cloud! But it does say in tehre the Kingston 8gb 1600mhz when I click through. If the RAM I bought definitely isn't compatable, I may just go through doing that.

With upgrades, log into your account, and then theres a tile on the right that says upgrade your existing PCS computer.
Click that and you should see your laptop there, click on the picture of the laptop or the order number, and it will bring up a configorator with what options are available.

Was the new one you got also a DDR3? Doesnt look like your laptop supports DDR4 from that list.

I've just gone through that after buying the RAM, the new RAM I bought is DDR3 and follows the description of the RAM the upgrade section goes through, except the branding, which is why I'm confused as the only difference between the 2 RAMS at quick glance is the voltage being different

Im thinking its dud sticks?
Pure guess here, but wouldnt the slight voltage increase be due to the RAM being faster?

You mentioned BSOD and pool header errors? .... this may be another job for @ubuysa

Did you have a look at your account/upgrade options?

PS I'd keep quiet about running win 7 still.... thats a little bit shocking and wont go down well!

Hah! The only reason I've got it in the old laptop that was getting the BSOD is because I'm doing a course which focusses directly on Windows 7, so I'd rather not use a VM to play around with it, rather just have it there and then when going through the course materials. But that is on an older laptop those errors came up. The PCS laptop I'm trying to add more RAM into does absolutely nothing, just press the power button and it's a black screen, doesn't give me any BIOS prompts or information at all. Just seems really odd, as I wouldn't have thought it too big a problem when I figured it...which I only did because CPU-Z had it appear in one of my memory slots, but wasn't registering the ram being used. Which also seems odd as how would it have the information of the ram & its voltage but not usable? My poor head 🙃

Voltage is essential with RAM, if the board maxes out at 1.35v and the new RAM is asking for 1.5 to operate, it just will never initialise.

1.35 is the common voltage for DDR3L which is normally found in laptops. DDR3 was for desktops. DDR 3 can only run at 1.5 and above.

If you log in to your account on the PCS website you get greeted with this screen - use the upgrade button and go through and select your order:

As mentioned earlier it looks like the DDR3 isnt compatible and you need DDR3L

It's frustrating that DDR3L only stands out now as it doesn't show it in the Memory tab, or anywhere on the laptop besides when scrolled to it on SPD tab, had I noticed beforehand I guess I would have searched differently!
Thanks for clarifying and posting a link to that page for me to read! Its cleared things up for me.

When trying to upgrade on the PC Specialist Upgrade section through my laptop specs it comes back saying...
"Unfortunately the following products are in short supply and we do not have enough stock available to cover the requirements on your configuration. Please reduce the quantity or select an alternative product:"
So I assume it means that the stock is unavailable/available because of the laptops age. The kicker is even on the drop down option for the RAM it calls it Kingston DDR3, doesn't have any mention of it being DDR3L either. Ahh well, you win some you lose some.

Thanks all for your help, I shall go on the hunt for some DDR3L RAM from some distributor out there!

Amazon stock plenty of DDR3L, I bought some not long ago, it's easy to get hold of.

You mentioned BSOD and pool header errors? .... this may be another job for @ubuysa
This looks like a hardware issue to me. Memory (RAM) is allocated by characteristics (fixed, pageable etc.) and the diffent location types are grouped into memory pools. The BAD_POOL_HEADER stop code just means the required pool was invalid, almost certainly because of a RAM hardware problem.
