Ah thanks for the gpu advice think I will go for a 1440p monitor, the ultrawide screen isn’t absolutely necessary and will go for the 2070s gpu, just out of interest how much difference does going for 144Hz make over the 75hz visually speaking

Ah think I may have found a u tube answer in that they tested a monitor on doom at 60 and 144mHz and said the game runs much more smoothly.

Right hopefully this will be final check on you guys opinion of the build before I order, the only 2 querys I really have is wether its worth paying an extra £70-80 for the extra speed on the samsung evo M.2 SSD over the intel M.2 SSD if the advantage of the samsung is going to be significant im all for the higher spec M.2 SSd. Also I know I want a "quiet" system but do I need the replacement fans , whilst i i dont mind the illuminated components I dont want to feel Ive over done the Blackpool illumination bling but conversely if replacing with decent fans leads to a quieter and well cooled systen I'm more than happy to put the better fans in. I suppose I'm a function over looks guy at the end of the day so here goes :

Given the amount you are putting into the replacement fans to get quiet, it would be cheaper just to upgrade the case to the Define 7 (unless you don't like the Define of course but it is the best of quiet and airflow combined). Going with the Define would allow a newer cooler (the H100i is not in stock but the 115i is..the one you selected is an older one). I'd also drop the Intel down to the PCS M2 drive...slightly lower write speeds but still very capable for gaming (I have a" slower" M2 drive in my system and games still load very quick). If it was me, this is what I'd go for:

Thanks for the suggestions from what you're saying the suggested M.2 drive sounds reasonable and I think although the samsung is higher spec overall I am guessing that some of what you are paying for with the samsung would have been branding effect. I'm not really sold on the case im afraid I know I've said and implied im not sure I want a blackpool illuminations from the system as suc, but I do like the overall look of the LIAN LI LANCOOL II GAMING CASE. I think I was just overworrying that the extra illuminated fans was a bit too much. I take your comments about the Corsair H100x with quiet fans being an older cooler and originally was going for the H100i platinum but the supply issues precluded that (so not waiting till mid september ) would have opted for the H115i platinum but apparently doesn't fit in the case so was prepared to comprimise and install the older design cpu cooler

@Nursemorph Aye after some reflection you’ve actually given me a real dilemma. Now like you I’m not the biggest fan of the trend towards RGB with everything which you probably picked up on with my Blackpool Illuminations comment. Now thinking about it given where I keep my desktop (in my bedroom/part time study) I’m actually wondering if your suggestion of a quiet unflashy case might be a better option. The RGB might be nice to look for a while, but that’s secondary to having something does the job. Plus thinking what my other half would think hmm I might now have to seriously reconsider your build oh lord darn it. Also I can get a more efficient and upto date cpu cooler to boot. I take it the H115i platinum uses the Corsair magnetic levitation fans which should be quieter and I get away with not having to get extra fans as I assume the existing case fans are of a quite design given the cases name I can’t believe how much my build has changed since I first posted on here and I’m very grateful for all the time and advice You all have given me.

Just out of interest I was looking at the other fractal cases and I know it’s not a specifically quiet case but I actually like the idea of the Fractal meshify S2 blackout Tempered glass case I know its an extra £10 or £15 but allows a muted view of the internal RGB components but retains the quiet fans of the define 7 quiet case ok it won’t be quite as quiet but I think I could live with it as it would keep the lightshow so to speak but it wouldn’t be glaring in your face and appears to have similar if not the same airflow properties as the define 7. In actual fact after browsing for reviews of the case it’s a pity PCS don’t offer the tempered glass variant of the define 7quiet case

Roberttonkiss874

I have thought about this and I might try sourcing the Devine 7s tempered glass side panel and get the quiet case as looking at fractals website it is supposed to be possible, ironically PCS is listed as a parts supplier for them so I wonder if when I order the build if I ring and ask if the tempered glass side could be added and fitted yeah it’s extra cost but I think the “upgrade“ would mean the overall compromise to noise reduction would be minimised, on the note of the fans yeah I picked that up and wonder why fractal didn’t put the variable speed version of the fan in the case as it’s a quiet case and makes more sense and on that note if it wasn’t for the unavailability of the H100i platinum I think I would have gone back to Lian Li Lancool ll case and just upgraded the case fans with the Corsair LL120 rgb Fans. and here I thought I was ready to order but it looks like I may need to do some further investigations first

hmm think I’m going to think seriously about the Fractal Meshify S2 Blackout and go with the H115i Platinum cooler after reading reading a couple of reviews of the Corsair H100x I see why you were not as keen on it, there’s a smell of Corsair having dabbled in an experiment of a cost cutting budget version which just wasn’t quite right and as the superior H100i platinum isn’t readily available unless I am prepared for a long wait (not happening And the order system won’t even let you order it) , I need to find a case that I can live with, and this one seems to fit the bill as it not overly Blingy with the RGB elements but able to display components internally. My only real concern or rather decision is do I replace the Fractal Fans that appear to be very reasonable and relatively quiet but fixed speed fans or go for a PWM fan like the Corsair LL120 fans

Roberttonkiss874

Silver Level Poster
Thanks @Nursemorph I’d accepted that I’m not going to get an absolutely quiet system and I was thinking pretty much along the same lines in regard to the existing fans in the case, and to be honest compared to my current system the fan noise is surely going to be much improved.

Was looking at monitors and found the following coming up as 1440p and thought it would be ok with the 2070s gpu but now not sure as part of the specs indicate its 4k
ASUS TUF Gaming VG27WQ Curved Gaming Monitor – 27 inch WQHD (2560x1440), 165Hz, Extreme Low Motion Blur™, Adaptive-sync, FreeSync™,1ms (MPRT), DisplayHDR™ 400

Thanks panicked a bit when I was looking on amazon and it was indicating it’s resolution is 4K uhd 2160p where it does an auto comparison with other monitor you might consider. Probably indicates my total inexperience when trying to decipher the specs

This is more for information and probably won’t affect any build decisions on the build but how much difference does the ram clock speed of 3600 hz over the 3200 hz make I am aware the AMD chips are supposed to work better with higher frequency ram but in practical terms would using the higher frequency be more desirable or are there other things you would “upgrade“ and putting your money into before just changing the ram speed

In all honesty, from what i've read, the boost in performance from 3200 to 3600 is not as great was from 2666 to 3200 (i know numerically it isnt, but in terms of actual performance).
