No Audio on new PC

Hi All so I got my pc today from PCS however I have no audio coming from my system. None coming from my monitor AOC Q27g2u/BK or my headset. Monitor is plugged into the HDMI & headset into the front two 3.5 jacks.
All windows updates have been done.

Any ideas?

does your monitor actually have speakers?

Have you opened the desktop and checked that the front ports / jacks are plugged in and havent come loose?

Have you tried the jacks on the back of the machine?

Can you right click the start button and select device manager and check what you have listed under Other devices and under Sound and also if any small yellow triangles appear on anything

The monitor doesn't have any speakers so you won't get any sound out of that.

Regarding the headset, are you sure the computer audio is set to the right output? Which headset are you using?

It says on the website it has 2x 2W speakers & the monitor has a volume control? Have I just got that totally wrong?
Windows does also recognise the monitor as an audio out.

Yeah I'm sure the headset is in the right out put, they are steel series arctics 3.7.1

Finally - right click the start button again and select Settings - on the left menu select Sound and then check what the output is selected

What website? I can't find any reference anywhere to on board speakers.

Windows does also recognise the monitor as an audio out.
Any monitor connected by HDMI will be shown as an audio source, weather it has speakers or not.

I meant in windows, not physically.

Monitor should have speakers.
Nothing from the back ports unfortunately
I have not opened the desktop but if you feel that is the next port of call I will
The output is Speakers (2-high definition audio device)
Or I can select Q27G2WG4 (Nvidia High definition audio device) which is my monitor

https://eu.aoc.com/en/gaming-monitors/q27g2u-bk- If its okay to link external sites?
Windows shows my headset as headphones (2 high def audio device) when plugged into front ports

Edited by a mod: changed the link so its for the manufacturers site rather than a competitor site, so no, you cant link to that site you ahs done :)

So its picking up that something is attached - stupid question - you have checked its not muted in the Volume Mixer?

right click the speaker in the task bar (right hand side near the clock usually) and select Volume Mixer

OK - right click the speaker icon again and select Sounds. Select Playback then in the tabs across the top.

What do you have listed - this is mine:

This is one of the rare times where overclockers has got it wrong, on the AOC site, it defintely doesn't list any speakers

As I said, any HDMI source will show as an audio device even if they don't have speakers.

That monitor has a headphone out so has audio pass through, but no speakers.

The audio will also be listed on the HDMI as your monitor has got a headphone jack too so there will be passthrough sound to it from your desktop to the monitor - have you tried plugging your headphones in there?

Fair enough, let me bust out my speakers and give them a shot!

OK - that is defaulting to the monitor - you can see the green bars - plug your headphones into the monitor
