Hello All,

PCS just made available Defiance VII as option for Black Friday promotion.
I was going to buy the Nova one... but they setup the Black Friday machine with RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, and nova only supports RTX 2070.

The Nova spec I want to go is:
Ryzen 7 - 3200X (3.6Ghz - 4.4Ghz)
RAM 32gb 2666Mhz
RTX 2070
1TB Samsung 970 Evo

The Defiance:
Intel i7 10875H (2.3GHz - 5.1Ghz Turbo)
RAM 16gb 2666Mhz
RTX 2080 Super Max-Q
1TB Samsung 970 Evo

Worth changing my mind to Defiance? I'll be using more for games.
What really got my attention is the video card.

Cheers

I think you're getting confused by the names of the GPUs here. The full 2070 mobile (115W) on the Nova is miles better than the 2080 Super Max-Q (80W), I would say around 20% better. For sure the 2080 super max-q will be cooler and probably quieter due to less power consumption, but I never had thermal throttling on the Nova with the 2070 (fans are loud though).

But if it's performance that you're looking for, full 2070 mobile is a lot better (y)

Thanks for replying!

I'm not getting confused! hehe!
I was wondering if Nova's RTX 2070 was better than RTX 2080 Max-Q.
But after researching I learned that 2080 Max-Q isn't a game changer compared to 2070 from Nova.
And the good thing is that Nova is cheaper and I dare say has better hardware.

Great! I was just asking because a lot of people get confused over which one is better, since 2080 (in theory) is better than 2070, but for laptops that's not the case. A lot of other factors (like TDP) are as important as (if not more than) the GPU chip being used.
