nvidia gtx 870m: 3gb or 6gb video RAM?

Hi,

I was looking for performance charts related to the new 8xx series, and I keep reading that 870m is not equipped with 6gb RAM, but just 3, instead. Can anybody tell for sure that 870m shipped with PCSpecialist laptops is actually equipped with 6GB video RAM? I'm asking this because the PCSpecialist laptop specs just got updated, so I was afraid that it was some kind of typo. >.<

I haven't spent any time looking at the new 8xx series cards but I would feel fairly confident in saying that it doesn't ship with 6GB of GDDR5 because that would be completely ridiculous. I think even the GTX titan black only has 6GB so I doubt the 870m has that much.

I haven't looked as I said but I think its safe to assume that 3GB is what you will get, anything more than say 2GB is not needed unless you plan to game at higher than 1080p resolution. So on a 4k display or with more than 1 display in surround.

I believe the GTX870/880m comes with either 3/6Gb and 4/8Gb options. Bonkers I know, but I do believe the specs are correct at 6Gb.

I've got an 870m laptop in the pipeline so I'll post either way when it arrives next week.

I actually asked this in a live chat witch PCS and the sales assistant told me the specs were correct. I hope so, I think I'll order one soon and 6 GB would be a blast!
Also, Spyder, let me know your first impressions about the laptop you're about to receive :D

Will do, I'll be doing an initial review and then probably a follow up after a couple of months. I've ordered the 17" Vortex IV with GTX870m, hopefully arriving around next wednesday, fingers crossed!!!
