Hi everyone,

this is a simple and early review of my Octane III :D

Shortly, i needed a mobile workstation and after different weeks of searching i fell in love with the Octane III 17.3", so, those are the short specs:

Specs:

Chassis & Display Octane Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080)

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-7700k (4.2GHz) 8MB Cache

Memory (RAM) 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 16GB)

Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1080 - 8.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1, G-SYNC

1st Hard Disk 500GB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 2.5" SSHD - UP TO 5X FASTER THAN HDD

plus a samsung EVO m.2 500GB that i already had.

The display is very good, vieweable even with high angle of view, it suffer just a bit of black bleeding but is not noticeable in everyday use ;)

During the first days i had different problems, like black screen on boot, BSOD, screen artifacts and high temperatures but i discovered later that all of them were (actually some are still persistent) related to the creators update of Windows 10 and Nvidia drivers :/ so i had to block feature updates in windows 10 and using old nvidia drivers.

Since then i used the laptop in different heavy ways, like rendering a timelapse of 3000 HDR raw shots in After Effects and some gaming with Mass Effect: Andromeda, Kerbal Space Program, Elite Dangerous and apart of Mass Effect:Andromeda that have problems related with Directx and nvidia drivers, all worked really flawlessy, and the temperature never reached throttling limits (with Overclocking and Maximum Fan Profile).

Battery, i was surprised that in battery saving i achieved almost 3h while playing music, surfing web, using powerpoint, word and photoshop simultaneously! :)

I'm really very happy with this purchase, now i'm just saving money for a 64GB ram upgrade :D :D

PCSpecialist:

Exceptional, in less than 1 week they worked the order and delivered the notebook!

The package was huge, big airbags and hard cardboard protected very well the laptop during the transport.

100% Recommended!
