On the Way :)

I had an email today to say that my order had been dispatched and according to the tracking info it's currently at the Leeds-terminal. Because of hearing problems, I opted for delivery by 10am ... couldn't face a whole day of just sitting around listening for the doorbell to ring :) Not the best of weeks for delivery, as my wife is on holiday in Cornwall, but, according to the DHL site, delivery should be between 7:30 and 10am, so I should be able to get up in time even if I don't hear the alarm clock ... time for another prayer Gorman :)

The order took a while to be completed, but that's understandable in view of the 1GB GTX 460 I specified. I'll post an update once I receive the order, but for now I just wanted to thank the admins and everyone else for their support in this forum.

Take care and have fun,

Mike

Nice,
And FYI, I also went for before 10am delivery and it was 8:15 when mine turned up last week.

It arrived at 08:25am :) The tracking service was a great help. I got up at 06:30, to be on the safe side, but tracking showed it had only arrived in Lichfield at 06:14. I was expecting it to be transferred to their Derby depot before delivery, so thought there wasn't much chance of getting it today. However, I checked again at 07:30 and saw it was 'out for delivery' at 06:57. So it was two bone conducting hearing aids turned way up ... and I had no problem hearing the doorbell.

The box is massive, but the delivery guy was good enough to bring it in for me. I'll have a look inside when I've finished this, but I might need to wait until tonight for my son to help me with physically moving it :)

If I can remember where my camera and battery charger are these days, I'll have a go at some pics. However, they won't have the page 3 potential of LDUK's :)

It's just under 3 weeks since I placed my order, but no complaints on my part. Three of the items in the spec, including the GTX460, went out of stock during the process but PCS kept me well informed of what was happening.

later all and take care,

Mike

Decided not to wait for my son to finish work and help with physical side of things.... big box, but contents not too heavy after all. Great packaging .. but where to store it now :)

New PC is up and running.. connected to the internet and my old PC (which my son is going to have for web stuff... he's a console player grrr ! ) is connected to the wireless network for file transfers.

Biggest problem was activating Windows. You youngsters just don't appreciate the problems us old guys have :) During the set up process, got the request to enter the activation code. Of course it's not on the Windows DVD case any more. Then I remembered I saw it stuck to the back of the PC, which is now on the floor, under my desk and connected to all the peripherals. Armed with a torch and wearing my varifocals I set out to read it.

Gravity is a great help in getting down, but it's a b****r to get up again. Entered the code ... nope not right. hmm .. is that a 6 or a G ... tried all the combinations, with several trips to the floor again.... nope. hmm ... wonder if PCSpecialist has a copy of the code ?.... wait a minute 88.... perhaps its B8, BB or finally 8B..... aye that's it. You see nothings daunts someone who's first great gaming experience was playing Elite in glorious green wire frame on a BBC micro :)

Take care all and have fun,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Glad you managed to get it up and running in your own. You wouldn't believe how many people have the same problem with activating Windows regardless of their age! Looking forward to the pictures :p
