Hi bought this PC just last week and am very happy with it so far but came across one problem. I am trying to get dual monitors working as I have just purchased a new 144hz monitor and want to use it along with my old 60hz one. My PC has 2 dvi-d ports but only one of them is working (the one at the lower end of the PC). Its definitely not the monitors or the cable as I have tried all different ways and it only works if I put it into the bottom DVI slot. The PC simply doesn't even detect the second montior. Any ideas?

Are you connecting both to the gpu?

The one that is working is the one that is connecting to the GPU I believe.

Both need to be connected to the GPU, the ones on the motherboard are disabled when a discrete graphics card is installed (ie . the GTX 970 is a discrete graphics card)

Ah, I was hoping I would be able to use the onboard graphics considering the 2nd monitor wouldn't be running any games or anything. Guess I'll have to get myself an adapter of sorts.

It has one DVI-D and one DVI-I. The other DVI-D is for the motherboard.

So the GPU does have two DVI ports then? - one DVI-D and one DVI-I? In which case just use both, both DVI ports on the GPU should work fine (unless I'm reading your post wrong).
