Hey Guys!

A few weeks ago i received my new optimus 8 laptop.
i5,gtx 1050ti , 16gb ddr 4, samsung p961 256gb , win 10

1st time when the laptop freeze happened i did nothing special just checking facebook, listening music on youtube.
The 2nd time i played with diablo 3.

When the freeze happens im not able to ctrl alt del , alt tab or anything else to do just power off.
I installed all the official drivers from pcspecialist, no anniversary update to win 10.

Any idea what is going on?

Personally I would allow Windows to install all updates, it would appear that somehow you have been blocking updates (...no anniversary update to win 10.)?

Windows 10 will probably find more up to date drivers than the ones on the PCS disk too, the Clevo website may have better drivers than those on the PCS disk as well.

Windows 10 is still a work in progress so IMO it's very important to keep it updated with all the latest updates.

Hello Ellanth,

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing freezing issues on the system. I would like to check you Windows Logs on this system. Would you be able to send over your minidump as well as application and system logs to a support email?

To get these files sent over, please do the following:

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.

In here, please go to Windows Logs, then go to Application. Right Click it and go to ‘Save Events As…’, save it somewhere you can find, then attach it to the email and send it here. Please do the same with the ‘System’ log.
Then, go to C:\Windows\Minidump as copy these files over to me as well. You may have to copy the files to the desktop to attach them to me through email if it they do not attach correctly due to permissions. Please note this folder may be empty.

If you can attach these to an email to [email protected], marked FAO Richard and quoting your order number, I am sure I can get this fixed for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

Yesterday i installed anniversary update for win10 and the windows couldn't start again normally. The screen was black with a the pc specialist default loading "O" circle heared skype log in sound but still black screen (no screen on external monitor neiter). So i remote controlled my pc with teamviewer and the result was almost the same but i could use the start menu. My final solution was to reinstall the windows so i cannot send you the event logs yet because its a fresh system. I'll back with the results as soon something happen. Thank you

If you did an upgrade to Anniversary Edition in place (ie. not as a fresh install) it's not unusual to encounter problems. For most users the upgrade in place works well but it is known to cause all sorts of problems for many others. Generally it's always more reliable to perform a clean install of Windows 10 upgrades from a downloaded ISO file.

Hopefully the reinstall will have sorted things for you. :)

After the reinstall i did not get any freeze or crash errors yet so i decided to try the Anniversary update again. I'll be in touch with the results.

You've missed what ubuysa was trying to say... if you download a current install ISO from Microsoft it will include the anniversary update

Yes...but, if you download Windows 10 now you'll get the Creator's Edition and from what Tony1044 has been saying elsewhere on here that might not be a good idea just yet... :)

Yeah I would avoid creators edition just for now. My understanding was that MS have pulled the automatic update but when you go to download the Win 10 ISO it looks like it might still be creators.

For me, they're annoyances I can live with/work around but with MS themselves now advising not to bother...I'd suggest sticking to Anniversary if you can.

Mind you...MS really seem to really want to push Creator's Edition... spot what's wrong here?

Connected to one of my own servers...server....server 2016...um yeah, ok MS...

No, it's flippin' worrying is what it is.....

I didn't click the link in fairness so it may well have been purely advertising or a link to the ISO to download, but, yeah...

I am not friends with MS today.

I've had to migrate a customers KMS (licensing) server from two 2008 R2 to a single 2012 R2 server today.

Once I'd noticed they'd provided 2012 and not R2 keys, because they're not internet connected, plus they use various flavours of Office, I've had to key in literally hundreds of digits manually.

I did try to use their "specially designed" smartphone link they sent...yeah...didn't work. Gah.

MS recently released a 2FA app, does it work? No, not at all, works for about a week then totally loses synch with your accounts so you get totally locked out of everything, it's ridiculous.

I've worked with 2FA for years. RSA, SafeWord as was and various flavours of mobile.

One...can't remember it's name or the vendor was set up such that if you changed your mobile, it sent a text to the old one.

Only they hadn't considered the lost or stolen scenario...meant if you lost your phone you had to call their support centre to get it unlocked and put onto another.

Which just opened up a whole world of potential for social engineering.

Hi, did you ever get to the root cause of this issue? I've just received my laptop from PC specialists last week and it is doing the same thing. Freezing without anyway of responding other than hard resetting it.

It appears to only happen when connected to power, running off battery I haven't had it freeze. Plugged into power it can run for 5 minutes or upto about 30 minutes but consistently freezes.

Will send logs and a support case to PC specialists now.

Hi Techrok or anyone else, I have the same question, did you ever find it out, because I have recently bought one and mine does just the same.
