Optimus V - blue screens + going crazy

Hi,

I bought an Optimus V last summer (in August) and I had it delivered to my country (Romania) because I used my company info to pay without IVA. By the time I received it in my hands (living in Gibraltar) already passed 2 weeks and a bit from the moment I bought it. When I got it I installed Windows 8 on it (with license) and I got plenty of blue screens. So I uninstalled it and installed Windows 7 (again with license). Lots of blue screens again. Contacted them...and told them that this is not right...and I just received it...they told me that it may be because of the RAM (of course, after passed 2 more weeks, did some tests for HDD and RAM...and spent lots of money on calls). They sent me another pair of RAMs...guess what? Blue screens again and my laptop going crazy...Again few weeks fighting with them -they didn't want to refund me as apparently I can do it only in the first few days and that period passed ("lucky me!!")- I finally got them to send me another pair of RAMs (this time not Kingston but Samsung). It turns out that THEY KNEW about this COMPATIBILITY ISSUE and they didn't even warn me! Or say it from the very first time!! They didn't say anything not even I sent them pictures with THOUSANDS of errors after running the RAM test for few minutes!

So I had to wait again...till I received my Samsung RAMs. This time, the tests passed and I thought...yey! After 3 months I can finally get the chance of using my laptop!!!
I wanted to have a very good laptop so I saved some money (I'm a student but also working) so I paid 1,583 pounds for this laptop (with IVA) or 1,333.33 pounds (without IVA) - and guess what? I ended up with a non-working laptop!! I don't think this is normal considering the PRICE!!!!

I'm more than furious...Now, even with those Samsung RAMs (that should be compatible and everything to work perfect), I still get blue screens out of nowhere, if I turn my laptop to sleep for the night it goes crazy...opens up..the fan starts working as crazy...and restarts, the sound is suddenly stopping sometimes (I have to reboot it to recover the sound), sometimes it's just freezing, the HDD makes a weird and loud sound. Last week I had a call with a client (for the job that I have) and it just stopped working. No Skype, no Windows, NOTHING....

I do not have any games on it, I do not have lots of crazy programs installed on it...I'm just using it "normally"...and it's not working even for that!!

I'm tired of spending money on the calls and I feel like they are just playing with me!
After more research on Google..I found out that apparently not only they knew about this incompatibility issue..but they also let SOME of the customers know about it...Of course..that wasn't my case too. And I had to pay to send the RAMs to them just to send me another incompatible one...GREAT COMPANY!

I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND PC Specialist or OPTIMUS V!!!

Here is the post from last year when I was fighting with them to give me a good pair of RAMs...

Loredana, I realise you are not happy, but please stop posting about this on every thread vaguely related to Optimus laptops, please try to keep the comments to your one thread, it'll make it easier for people to read and see what's going on.

Loredana, you're not doing yourself any favours by essentially spamming the forums. Please stop, we will be more than happy to discuss your issues in this thread, there is no need to post on every thread you can see. Everyone visiting the site will be able to see your thread here and any discussion you would like to have in it.

EDIT:
Seems like there's two problems with the laptop here (at least that you've described so far). The first is related to your RAM, you're saying that the original issue was incompatibility but you're now using Samsung ram and the problem is persisting? Do you know what the BSOD stop code is that you get?

The fan issue is something I don't know how to solve, if it seems to only happen when you put the laptop to sleep, it might be a case of simply switching it off rather than 'sleep'? I don't know though.

No, the fan issue is not happening only when I put it to sleep.
The problem that I have when I put it to sleep is that it's going crazy and opening...and restarting and everything!

The only way to "fix this problem" is to return my money back. I can't waste any more money on your company. I called you many times in the past few months, I paid for the transport of the RAMs EVEN IF YOU KNEW THE ISSUE and I'm loosing money when I cannot use properly the laptop.

This is the third RMA that I'm raising and I still get the same old blue screen + other problems as well! This is ridiculous!! This product is not fit for purpose and I want my money back!

In which case you have to talk to the guys/girls at PCS, forum members with the moderator tag (such as myself and steaky360 above) do not work for PCS, so for something like refund requests we cannot help, nor can we check up on order numbers or RMA numbers, only the guys/girls at PCS can.

Though do note, some of the PCS guys do answer on the forums when they have time.

I'm only a moderator here, I do not work for PCS.

I was only asking so we could try to help. I do appreciate that you've been let down though.

Check the RMA nr 20172 for the order number 574163.
I can't. I do not work for PCS and have no access to that information unfortunately.

The issues with it sleeping and 'going crazy' etc. are probably software related rather than hardware. It would still be helpful to know the stop code for the blue screen if we are to try and help.

As Rakk said above, the PCS guys who are on here are usually pretty easy to spot (PCS logo's) and they have an "Admin" tag rather than moderator.

I told you before that I'll go to the Customer Protection as I feel like you are just making fool of me! You knew the problem from the very beginning and tried to cover it!! I was giving advices to people that want to buy from you to find out first what company they will deal with!! I wish somebody would have tell me how you are dealing with customers and complaints so I would have never bought the laptop from you!
1,583 pounds is not a sum of money that you can easily save and pass over the fact that you spent them on something that doesn't work! At least not for me...not to add the money spent on calls or the money lost when I couldn't use properly the laptop!

If this is not going to be resolved - by returning the laptop and receiving my money back - I will go to Customer Protection both in Romania and Gibraltar to complain about it, post on Facebook again the problems and on the forums. People do deserve to know what they are buying or from who they are buying!! This product (my laptop) is not fit for purpose!!

I am sorry you've had a hard time dealing with PCS's customer service, and you are more than entitled to voice your opinions in this thread. However that does not give you the right to essentially spam many other threads on here, it is against the forum rules.

I have just deleted another reply posted by yourself on someone else's topic. We can see you are upset because you have a problem but we cannot allow people to post the same complaint multiple times all over the forums. People can see your thread, its at the top of the laptop section. If you continue spamming the forums we will have to take further action.

The PCS rep on facebook says they paid for your RAM to be shipped to you, you argued back with something about them only covering reasonable costs, but never mentioned anything about you having to pay anything. So I presume they were sent at a cost to PCS.
PC Specialist Ltd I've just spoken to our Customer Service Manager regarding this. I've been informed that you were told yesterday that we've accepted responsibility for the incompatible RAM and we're sending brand new replacements out to Gibraltar free of charge.

Your facebook complaint is dated as October 2013, that's a long time ago for this only to be brought up here now.

You have no automatic right to a refund unless returned within the first week, PCS do not provide free shipping outside the UK because they are a UK based company. Anyone who orders from outside the UK is liable for all return delivery costs, I think PCS have been more than fair about sending you replacement RAM.

I have always found that people react to you in a similar way to that in which you treat them. You are clearly frustrated, and it seems with good reason, but if in your dealings with PCS you have behaved in the confrontational and aggressive manner in which you post on here it's hardly surprising that you haven't received their usual gold standard of service. If you spoke to me the way you post on here I would be inclined to walk away.

You will also find if you search the forum that the noisy fan is a known issue with the Optimus V. I have no idea whether a fix for that has been developed yet, the last I heard Clevo were looking at a BIOS update. But your noisy fan is not unique to you, nor is it PCS's fault, the chassis comes from Clevo.

One of the earlier posters asked you to post details of the BSODs that you get, in particular it would be useful to know the stop code (or bug check code) that you get. In Windows 7 it is an 8 digit hex number of the form 0x0000000A, in Windows 8 (and 8.1) it is a text string of the form IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. If you could post that information we may be able to narrow down the cause of your BSODs. If we can hep then we will, even though most of us don't work for PCS.

I understand you're angry and frustrated but constant ranting doesn't make us want to help you.

I do apologies about the experience you had so far. Sadly the mod team are, 100% GUARANTEED not part of PC Specialist so they are unable to comment on anything to do with your individual order. We are unable to offer a refund at this stage as we provided you with free ram and paid for the shipping charges as a good will gesture. We will be more than happy to look at the system for you in terms of the warranty however you will have to send it through to us as in line with our terms and conditions.
