Optimus VIII, keyboard and trackpad problem

Hi there, I'm trying to sell my laptop so Im checking if everything works.
Ever since I've had the laptop, I've not used the trackpack or the keyboard, I've used my own mouse and keyboard. I think i disabled the keyboard and the mouse but have now reenabled them.

The issue is that the trackpad is REALLY bad, it barely works and I'm not sure why as ive barely used it.

With the keyboard, there are certain keys that don't work. And once again, I have no idea why as I never use the keyboard. Any help please? I don't know why these would not be working well as the laptop has been sitting on my desk for the majority of its time and hasn't been dropped or anything. I recently got the laptop RMAd as they fixed an issue with the chassis but now another issue. All i've had is issue after issue.

First thing to do if you’re going to be selling it anyway is a fresh install of windows to see if the issue is software or hardware related.

Is it still under warranty?

There is still I believe a few months of labour warranty left but at this point in time, sending it back is not an option as I'll be without a laptop for 2 weeks and I need it for studying.

It wasn’t for sending back, just working out if parts are converted, but not.

I did a repair install of W10, same issues still persist. Uninstalled and reinstalled all mouse/keyboard drivers, still hasnt fixed. As for the trackpad, there seems to be a sweet spot where it works most of the time, but on the upper half and left half of it, it doesn't work at all

A repair isn’t what’s needed, it needs to be a full reinstall using a usb installer with the latest image from Microsoft.

i said repair but i dont think it was because it prompted me to delete my old windows installation, regardless, i'll try it again at some point but for now do you have any other fixes I could try?
That's the fix to do, reinstall windows from scratch, make sure all drivers are properly configured.

If the issue is still occuring then you know it's a hardware problem.

EDIT: I dont have a USB larger than 8GB, can I just mount the ISO and run that?
8gb is fine, doesn’t need to be any bigger

"A blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space or blank DVD (and DVD burner) if you want to create media. We recommend using a blank USB or blank DVD, because any content on it will be deleted. "

Any idea on the cost of a trackpad and keyboard repair?

Have you done a reinstall and installed correct drivers?
I plan to(unless what i done before was a reinstall, was done thru the media program) but also am trying to sell the laptop and the new owner may just pay for repairs if I take it off the cost.

Does a fresh install delete all apps and programs?

That's the point though, if it's software then replacing the parts isn't going to fix anything.

A reinstall will delete everything on the OS drive, but that's part of the installation process, you have to delete all existing partitions and install to the remaining space.

Ok so it will delete everything on my SSD (which i have my current OS on) but won't fiddle with anything on the HDD?

Yeah, you only need to delete the partitions on the drive you use for the os.
Just want to say thanks for all the help so far! ill give it a go and get back to you, although could you still give a rough figure of the cost to repair if it were to be a hardware problem? Seems like it is a hardware problem to me as why would only part of the trackpad work?

No idea, you’d have to ask PCSPECIALIST.

if Drivers aren’t configured correctly then anything could go wibbly

What key is it to go to boot menu? Turned laptop off and on and mashed f1 f2 esc f8 and f12 and none of them worked? Maybe because I'm doing it via external keyboard it isnt connected in time? I tried via laptop too but maybe because some keys aren't working it won't let me?
