Optimus VIII questions

My current 17" Optimus II (i7 3740QM, GTX 660M) has served me well for over 4 and a half years, and I'm thinking of upgrading to the 17" Optimus VIII (7300HQ, 1050 ti). I have some questions for new owners:

1) Is there a dedicated button to enable/disable optimus? I can't see one on any pics.

2) Is there a light/led to indicate that optimus mode is on or off?

3) Why can't I configure 2x8Gb 2400MHz RAM? I would add 1x8Gb 2400MHz Corsair Vengeance sodimm myself but I cannot seem to source one.

4) Do you have reasonable temps & fan noise whilst gaming?

I too am interested in this - especially comments on the screen quality and fan noise while gaming - any feedback from owners?

Is the optimus mode question a joke or is this some kind of turbo boost or something? :)

Why would that be a joke? Optimus is graphics switching technology by nVidia that switches between on board graphics and the dedicated card to save battery when dedicated graphics aren't required (media playing, internet browsing etc).

I don't believe there is, any graphics settings will need to be done manually in the nVidia control panel.

I don't actually know this as have never seen the chassis, but imagine there would be as there are on most clevo chassis

No idea, seems odd, I would contact PCS, and if they can't do anything, order with 1 x 4gb and then fit your own 2 x 8gb

4) Do you have reasonable temps & fan noise whilst gaming?

Can't answer

1) Looking at the photos of the chassis there may well not be: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/clevo-n850hj.800089/
Some older Optimus models did have this button (I think the Optimus 4 did) but that doesn't look like it does.

2) I'd suggest looking up the manual on the Clevo website but the dropdown menu on the downloads page that used to give the manuals appears to have been recently removed.

3) As above. You could order the laptop with 1x 8gb RAM and order another 8gb as an upgrade from PCS, since they usually sell upgrades like RAM and storage to existing customers. Perhaps phone them and ask/

4) No personal experience but you can read reviews from other users here. https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?15-Show-off-your-new-PC-Laptop!

This was the first one I found commenting on temps:
Performance
So far its been fantastic. I installed Windows 10 on the SSD (No brainer really!) and it boots up within 6 seconds. Playing Civ VI on high settings has been flawless so far with no noticeable framerate drops at all. The CPU sometimes runs a bit hot when playing Civ but the average temperature sits at around 60°C when in a particularly intense game. The GPU is yet to top 65° at all.#

Pascal GPUs seem to run cooler than their predecessors from much earlier generations. A GTX 1060 in a laptop will apparently run around ~70 degrees, whereas I've seen a GTX 650M run much hotter.

I thought it was a play on Optimus Prime - the joke being the laptop transformed
