So we should by now be aware of the problems with the 12900k IHS bending to the point it no longer makes full contact with the heatsink and leads to thermal issues.

Buildzoid went full depth into the issue and was the first to recommend shims as a solution.

Thermal Grizzly have now released a plate that fits in the socket and improves things further, longer term.

If you have one, I would entirely recommend checking these out

Ive not seen this, is it basically the chip runs so hot it warps itself?
So unless a good cooling option from the start, it will warp and have even more thermal issues?

It's the socket holder paired with a weak IHS leads to it bending to the point it's no longer flat so can't make proper contact with the heatsink.

so motherboard and cpu issue combined.... do you think they will address the issue or its going to be a permanent flaw with that chip?

Intel in their infinite scummery literally said it was normal and expected.

Why people choose to support them I just don't know. They're utter scum.

...that really doesnt make sense...how can something be normal and expected if it effectively wrecks itself through standard use?
Thats a faulty product, pure and simple.... how can they justify releasing it other than greed?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they end up facing quite a few class action lawsuits over this.

You are of course correct, they absolutely should do a recall, or offer these brackets for free to anyone that bought one.

Just doing nothing is quite frankly criminal.

GamersNexus have done an in depth testing of this issue with Intel 12th Gen and specifically Thermal Grizzly's aftermarket solution, worth a watch

Please do be warned, any aftermarket "Mod" like this is considered by Intel as unnecessary and therefor will void warranty.

pretty much sums intel up having to install body armour for it not to burn your house down.
