Overheating - Vortex II

I have had my Vortex II for just over a year.

It has now started to fail every other day due to overheating.

CPU keeps getting up to 100C even on idle it runs at 70C

Any suggestions.

Have you tried cleaning out the dust and crud from the vents? Id expect a laptop to need cleaning at least once every 6 months, maybe more often depending on environment.

Been done, and it's normally used in office environments.

I'm concerned that the heatsink has come away from the CPU. Might take the back off it tonigh and have a look.

If you take it off you will need to reapply thermal paste. If its already off you will also need to do this.

I took the back off the laptop, the heatsinks were both screwed down tight so I didn't bother with them. I just used half a can of compressed air to give the heat sinks, copper and fans a good clean. Seems to have done the trick.

It's crazy what a difference a good blow can do.

... that came out wrong :/
