PC advice

I have a quite small budget for a PC (£725). The best i could get on here for exactly that money is:
Case PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE
Processor
AMD PHENOM II X4 QUAD CORE 980 (3.70GHz/8MB CACHE/AM3)
Motherboard
ASUS® M5A78L-M/USB3: M-ATX, USB 3.0, SATA 3.0Gb/s
RAM
8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P
Graphics Card
1GB AMD RADEON™ HD6850 - 2 DVI,HDMI, DP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 3 Capable
1st Hard Disk
500GB SATA-II 3-Gb/s HARD DRIVE WITH 16MB CACHE (7,200rpm)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan
Processor Cooling
STANDARD AMD CPU COOLER
Sound Card
Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Network Facilities
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT

I know how to build my own computer I simply dont have the patience. I was wondering if I could get a better spec PC for the same price (or hopefully less) if I do build one my self.

You might be able to save a couple of quid (or maybe not) by buying parts separately and self-building. The major downside of this for me would be that if something goes wrong and you can't isolate the problem, what do you do then?

You will have individual guarantees for the components, but let's say (for example) you think it's a gpu problem, you return it under warranty to the supplier, they return it to you stating no fault found. What next? CPU, motherboard, PSU?

If you buy from PCS, at least they will assist you in isolating the problem and if all else fails, they will collect, repair and return it to you for free (well, £5 for silver warranty - 1 year collect and return).

Up to you at the end of the day, but as you say yourself "I simply dont have the patience"...imagine how the self-build scenario could really test you!

Madman's spec is great, and also if you dont need the mem card reader you could drop that to save a few quid

If you can afford the extra price this will be better. The cpu is much better. The only problem is that the psu on this won't allow for upgrades, madman's psu is more powerful!

Anyway, just thought I'd have a go, tell me what you think!
