pc crashes during gaming

Hi guys & gals,

I bought my pc from pc specialist in 2017 and have mainly been using it for work and some light gaming but recently started playing ESO and after about 15 minutes of playing my computer seizes up and the screen turns green and I can't do anything but physically turn it off at the CPU. I notice that the fan goes into overdrive and it is kicking out some heat so think it may be an issue with overheating. I notice that my fan is entitled 'Super quiet' however it has never been quiet since I bought it, so I wonder if it has not been installed correctly but first can anyone tell me whether it might be crashing for another reason?

There are two common causes of what you describe, one software and one hardware. It's always wise to check the software issues first...

1. A bad or wrong driver.
Check that all drivers are up to date and properly installed - especially the graphics driver. I note also from this post by SpyderTracks in another thread that AMD GPU's have had driver issues ongoing for about 8 months now.

2. Overheating.
Download HWMonitor and check the temps both at idle and under the heaviest load you can manage. Post a screenshot of the HWMonitor output for each case.

As @ubuysa says, firstly I'd make sure thermals are as they should be.

But it's very likely a driver issue, constant issues with AMD drivers, rolling back to a previous version may well restore things. But firstly check thermals.
