I will be purchasing a new pc...and plan to get it made by you guys here..I have a budget of around £1000 and Ive been having a play around with specs.

I want the pc as a video editing unit solely not gaming ...I use 1080p avchd...want to edit avchd natively with Pinaccle Ultimate 14,Adobe after effects cs3 (so rendering is important) and Adobe premier Pro cs5.
I would like to keep the budget as tight as possible....any way to get the cost a bit lower?

I came up with this below just over the £1000 mark....is it overkill? Any suggestions? Im getting a headache and a bit clueless!

You're half-way there, as you've configured the system using our workstation configurator: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/computers/intel3/

After reading Gorman's post, consider option for a Quadro card. If you amend the graphics card to the Quadro FX580, the price comes out just about right:

Thanks! Its good Im on the right track was wondering 2 additional things.
On your pre designed "video editing pc" you have Intel i5 as the processor...how come?
Reading through so many forums about video editing I thought an i7 would do a better job?

Plus would It be benificial to go with something like this?

Overclocked CPU
OverClocked Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-930 (2.8GHz @ max 3.8GHz)

Motherboard
ASUS® P6X58D-E: DDR3, USB 3.0, SATA 6.0GB/s, 3-Way SLI

Memory (RAM)
6GB KINGSTON HYPER-X TRI-DDR3 1600MHz, INTEL X.M.P (3 x 2GB KIT)

Graphics Card
1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX460 GDDR5 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11

Memory - 1st Hard Disk
640GB WD CAVIAR GREEN WD6400AARS, SATA 3 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE

1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM

Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (READS XD, MS, CF, SD, etc)

Power Supply & Case Cooling
600W Quiet 80 PLUS Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan (£59)

Processor Cooling
TITAN FENRIR EXTREME DIRECT TOUCH COPPER CPU COOLER (£39)

Thermal Paste
ARCTIC COOLING MX-3 HIGH THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND (£9)

Sound Card
ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities
ONBOARD 10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT

Or even a overclocked i5?
Thanks again! :)

We offer three video editing systems on our "pre-designed" section, based on budgets of £600, £900 and £1,200. The £1,200 system used an i7, the £900 and i5, and the £600 an i3. You can "video edit" on pretty much any specification, but the better the specification, the faster and more efficiently you can work.

The specification I suggested uses a QUADRO FX580 which will be better for professional work, but not gaming: http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_fx_580_us.html
