PC Game development and architecture rendering

Hi,
Ive always been a mac user, and can confidently say no nothing about the hardwares of PCs. For the last few years i've been using mid-range imac however its just so slow when rendering/ creating 3D models- so i'm looking for something that can keep up with the softwares I use. Softwares range from CAD, Substance, 3dsmax and Unreal engine. The programs use CPU and GPU so both are important. My price range is 2-2.5k and something I wont have to update all the time.
Should I be looking for a AMD base? or Intel?

What category would be best to look at the gaming Pcs or the Video editing Pcs?

Whats the key difference between the COBALT ULTRA and the PULSAR ULTRA?

Thanks in advance for the advice!!

It would be much better to get a custom built rather than ordering a pre configured one, then you can taylor it to your uses.

AMD would be far better performing.

Something like this would be a monster:

is this the best GPU for rendering?

IF i was to upgrade anything on this build what would this be?

And can you recommend a screen that would work well with this build? ( separate budget)

Hi ENLX

are you using any rendering plugin, arnold octane etc? 10gb of vram should be good enough for 3d rendering scenes but if their heavy workloads you may may want to go with more vram

benchmarks for octane render with rtx 3080.

Hi, yes i use Octane. so the 10GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 would be good enough? if not what would i have to get? and would it be compatible with the suggested build above? ( sorry very naive with tech over here)

Yup

Octane will perform great with good amount of ram and decent gpu, 3080 will out perform the 2080ti for rendering for rtx on.

32gb i have found to be the sweet spot for this and would be ideal for 3d rendering.

I have done some landscape scenes and with these with 32gb ram and around 8gb vram using octane.
