Hi again,
Got a PC that is playing up. It's not mine but it's my friend's.
He just got it but it won't actually boot up. It does not load windows it just gets stuck on a page that says "select proper boot device".
Is the hard drive dead?
Thanks.

Check the boot order in the bios. First should be the CD drive, second your boot drive.
You could also remove the cmos jumper for a few seconds. You can find tutorials on how to do this everywhere. :)

Shouldn't the boot drive be first though?
The CD drive is normally first just so that the computer can recognise os disks etc.
You can change it so that the main boot drive is first though. This would improve boot times as well. :)
