PC Spec Advice

Hi there,

I'm looking at getting a new system and would really appreciate some advice or suggestions on the below spec I've been working on.

Budget is around £3,000. I don't really want to go over this too much but will be willing to if any suggested upgrades are worth it.

In terms of uses, I'll be using this pc solely for gaming. I won't be streaming, processing videos or anything like that.

With my monitor, at the moment I have a AOC 27 inch 144 Hz LED Gaming Monitor G2770PF, but I'm looking to upgrade this along with my PC to a 1440p 144Hz monitor. Most likely a LG27GL850-B.

Any comments, suggestions or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Godlike
For 1440p 144hz gaming you can save a good chunk of change.
The 3080ti is an absolute behemoth of a GPU, to make use of it you’re looking at spending around £800 on a 4K 144hz display, or going for an Ultrawide/Superwide option like the Samsung G9 or Alienware’s 38 inch offerings. For 1440p gaming the 3060ti will do the trick and save you a good chunk of change. If you wanted to go for a higher spec monitor I would recommend pairing it with a 3080 as the ti variant offers a very small performance gain for the price increase. I would also recommend upping the PSU to 1000W in that instance.
16GB of RAM will be ample for the vast majority of gaming titles, but with this budget sticking with 32GB won’t do any harm, and will be good if you’re trying your hand at MSFS or certain heavily modded titles.
Upgraded motherboard to better handle the 5900x. You can arguably downgrade to the 5800x here as well as 8 cores matches what the current consoles are using.
Rejigged your storage to have the 980 pro for Windows and programs, with the Intel drive for your games. Even with direct storage there is minimal gain from having your games on the super fast drive, and you also have the advantage of not needing to reinstall all your games if you need to clean install Windows on your boot drive for whatever reason.
The Corsair cooler is a much better solution for your CPU, and it comes with premium paste pre applied so the Arctic paste isn’t necessary.
Ditched Bullguard as it has been known to cause issues and Windows Defender does a great job already.
When you’re spending this much on a build £5 for silver warranty goes a long way.
