so im looking to buy a new PC for work and gaming. work consists of running lots of demanding software at the same time (which my current pc fails at), rendering and a need for a large amount of storage. I also want it for typical gaming purposes. im hoping to get a PC that will still perform well in 4-5 years (my current one is around 5 years). my budget is <£2000. this current build is £1,979.00, im not sure if it overkill but i want somethings thats going to last.

Any comments/advice would be much appreciated!

From a gaming point of view you'll want to upgrade the monitor quite soon to get the most out of your GPU. Something 1440p, 144hz with freesync/gsync. Also the higher res would be good for your other uses too.

thanks for the suggestions! I read a bit about the AMD cpu and it sounds like it might be more suitable for my needs. I feel a bit nervous about getting a aio over the Noctua NH-U14S as ive read that they are less reliable long term and the H100x has similar performance. do you think a Noctua NH-U14S would be sufficient for AMD Ryzen 9 3900X? I dont have any plans to overclock.

They aren't similar, the H100x is a superior cooler. There were longevity issues many years ago with AIO coolers but they are all but gone. The liquid that's in them is non conductive and the warranty is excellent. I would be amazed if you ever had an issue without misuse. I had a H60 for 7 years with no problems whatsoever. I currently run a H115 and I would never go back to air now.

Add to that you get to save the money on the paste as the Corsair paste is excellent, and also you don't need to worry about a manual paste job.... it's a win, win, win scenario.

As above, and as much as I love Noctua, the H100x is straight up a more effective cooler. It can be more effective than some decent 280mm AIOs despite being a 240mm AIO.

Their units are reliable. Also Ryzen CPUs benefit from being kept as cool as reasonably possible (in terms of boost frequencies they give you) so as strong a cooler as possible is advisable.
