PC Specialist Hardware Bundle

Hi, i have just recieved my i9-9900k /Asus Maximus Xl Hero corsair memory and H100x cooler upgrade bundle delivered by DPD, I am just wanting to let PC Specialist know that the motherboard has been banging around in transit, the pegs that hold the motherboard in place has ripped through the cardboard that its fixed to .
I am not going to be building my pc for a few days yet and i hope that the motherboard is ok, i had to straighten a couple of pins on the fan header, it must have banged on the side of the cardboard box it came in, when it was delivered you could hear and feel it banging around inside and i just thought it was the contents boxes banging around and not the actual motherboard.

On another note, i wish that all the relevant boxes came with the ready set up pc parts, i was not expecting it to just come in a brown cardboard box especially when it has cost what it has cost. It wouldn't have cost anymore to include the boxes for re-sale purposes later down the road, If it does not work it will have to be returned.

sorry for the moan

PCS don’t monitor these forums so you’d need to send this directly to them. Phone is always best.

I didn’t think PCS did motherboard replacements for this very reason, as they have no control over the build and hence the warranty isn’t valid?

Yeah, I'd never heard of these kinds of hardware upgrades being available via PCS either.

How did you order these?

Also, what packaging are you saying these came in?

Can you post a photo?

Have you got the link to that site/advert?

If this is something new they’re doing, it wouldn’t be shipped with the original boxes as it’s pre assembled. No pre assembled kit comes with original packaging from any supplier.

It's the weirdest thing. PCS must be such a big brand that PC World feel there is some value to doing a component bundle via them, rather than just selling their own bundle :S How very strange.

thats ok if thats the norm, it's the fact that the motherboard and processor have been bouncing around in the cardboard box.
I am trying to shrink my phone pics to show haow it came

Nope, it's totally separate. PC World / Curry's just sell PC Specialist systems like they sell Dell, Acer, etc. Other stores also sell PCS stuff e.g. Ebuyer is another PCS reseller.

If you have trouble uploading pics to PCS forums, feel free to post them to imgur or similar and link here.

The packaging issues sound very concerning the way you describe them. I think we on the forum would be very interested to see pics, but as Spydertracks said above do also reach out directly to PCS to discuss the situation. You can point them to this thread too.

I wouldn't settle for a mobo with bent things on it, even if it did appear to work fine.

this is the boxing

in picture where it shows the whole motherboard, you can see the 2 parts of the lid that is supposed to press down and stop it moving around, well the only part it presses on is the back panel section of the motherboard.
You should be able to see the tearing where it is supposed to be fixed plus all the movement up nd down in transit isn't going to be doing the motherboard a lot of cop.
Hence it would of been better sent in their original boxes or better packaged, the mauals and all the other bits plus the PC Specialist heavy booklet was just placed on top of the motherboard floating around as well so it is quite understandable something would get damaged.

On another note i thought this was the PC Specialists method of comunication other than phoning

I would definitely raise this with PCS as you’re right, I don’t think that packaging is suitable for this content. There is an email address on the main site but it takes a while to get answered.

We’ll also flag it to the site admins.

PCS themselves don’t monitor the forums as a rule, they occasionally pop on, but it’s moderated and frequented by customers and tech fiends.
